Newbie questions

Hey all, nice forum (nice game too, im one of them isgruntled moo3 suckers ;), anyway coupla newbie questions (possibly very stupid). Is it possible to micromanage individual planets' productions, ie change resources going into social/military on a planet level? Otherwise if i can only set those for the whole empire lotsa resources are wasted, eg i want to maximize ship production on some systems and build up social upgrades on others, but apparently i cant? I finally managed my first win (sub-human/tiny) where i worked around that by sorta doing my building in batches, ie setting either social or military to 0 and building the other on all planets, then switching when i needed ships for example, but this is cumbersome and not feasable on larger maps. Am i missing something simple or fundamental here, thanks in advance.

You are right. You set resource allocation empire wide, you can't manage each planets production individually.

Yup, you have a good feel for the problem.

It does, however, get worse: the amount of production in excess to what was needed is actually wasted, and since you can't control individually, this waste adds up to a lot.

The devs know about the issues here, and have consulted with the user community about it (that'll shock an MOO3er - see threads from about 6 weeks ago), and I expect something to be done about it in a future upgrade. (Which of course is free to us, which you won't be used to from MOO3.)

*shrug*

Well, technically you COULD, if you're willing to truly abuse the global treasury. You lower your spend rate until you're generating a surplus, then apply that surplus to leasing whatever it is you want to buy on individual worlds. It'll cost you quite a bit extra, 'though, unless (and possibly even then; I haven't checked how strong the Interest Rate ability actually is) you've gotten numerous "corrupt businessmen" events and made a habit of choosing the "evil" path.

Welcome Mossada,

In some days I wished I could focus my best planet on producing TGs/Wonders (like we all do in Civ). But when I play the endgames in bigger maps, I'm kinda glad that I don't have to micromanage each planet.

Greeting Mossada,

The only truely stupid question is the one that you that you don't ask.

So ask away and learn from everyone elses experience. I know I did
