Basic Attack Command Question

Let's say I jump a group of 40 ships into a well, 20 LF and 20 LRF.

 

Let's say the opposition in the well is a fleet composed of exactly the same.

 

My question is simply this.  I know you can alt-select every ship of the same type in your own fleet but how do you tell those ships to attack ALL of the ships of a certain type in the other fleet?  I don't want to focus fire on one at a time.

Sorry, this isn't possible :( Last I heard, IC was iffy about doing this because it's very easy to eat up lots of memory with mass queueing. But they've been bugged about it :P

Ahh, thanks.  I figured that might be the reason.

 

Followup question, if I have everything stacked in the empire tree and I tell all my X ships to attack a stack of 10 Y opponent ships, what exactly happens?

 

Do they:

 

1.  Each attack the closest Y ship and continue attacking until all the Y ships in that stack are dead

2.  All focus fire on 1 Y ship and then another until the entire stack of 10 is dead

3.  All focus fire on 1 Y ship and then go back on auto (thus disregarding the 9 other Y ships)

This happens :P The stacks in the empire tree are mostly just a visual representation to condense it. When you right click a stack you technically only target one ship still.
