[Suggestion] Use different hosting for mods than Filefront and Fileplanet

Hejhej!

I'm usually dissappointed by those two mirrors, slow speed, can't use an external download-manager etc. Might I suggest using something like wua.la or vipeers.com. Both provide easy uploading and P2P + centralized downloading. What do you think? Has anyone else issues with the standard mirrors? What do Filefront and Fileplanet offer, that make most modders use them?

Ciao!

Filefront and Fileplanet give you a direct link so no need to screw around website looking for damn file!!!

And personnaly my download speed on both is incredible! I've never found a flaw ..except sometimes its a little slow...like everything else in this world! You ahve ups and downs!

PS: Download managers rule on those to sites..to the contrary of what your saying, I once managed to bypass the filefront download protection (ie link was shut down for some strange reason and no one could access file) by using that download manager who after about 10-15 mins managed to find the file and download free of any sort of error!

So to summarise..why filefront and Fileplanet!

FAST, EASY TO USE, NO NEED FOR SUBSCRIPTION!

But if you prefer..you can always use the official Wincustomize!

Not to mention anything that has something to do with P2P file sharing is at inherent risk of being blocked by many an admin firewall and/or ISPs.

OK, I see.

Ugh, did anyone have issues with an ISP blocking P2P traffic? Maybe I'm just lucky that traffic shaping hasn't come to continental europe yet. And about the admins: are you supposed to download game mods at work? ;-)

That's interesting, Filefront never lets me download anything via Orbit Download Manager :-( Fileplanet isn't that bad, but slow.

Anyway, thanks for answering!

Yes, actually. Not long ago there was a pretty bug uproar here in the US with a certain ISP throttling and screwing with P2P traffic. You guys are lucky :)

As for admin firewalls.. it's not just work, it's university dorms and such too. I'd be surprised if it wasn't blocked in the public WiFi places as well. There are folks with no at home access, if you poke around the forums it's pretty common to see a post about how to get Sins to an offline PC because they can download from work/other place since their at-home PC isn't hooked up :P
