Divine Service
This is what I find so beautiful in the hebraic mindset.
The Sh'ma has so much that one could easily break into a lengthy midrash so I'll try to be concise. ![]()
Sh'ma Israel, Sh'ma doesn't mean to just, hear O Israel. This hebrew word is significantly more than the limited translation into English. Sure the first aspect is to hear (with our ears) then with our hearts and our minds.
We are to internalize that Adonai is OUR G-D and Adonai is echad (one in harmony) and it serves as a reminder of our covenant with Hashem.
Upon this recognition and self reflection we are then in a pure(r?) state to bless HIS NAME and HIS Holy kingdom.
Then we are given a vague and brief description of how our actions should reflect the fore mentioned state of being and focus of Adonai and his covenant with us.
hehe I call it my Cliff Note midrash. ![]()
Shalom.
