Trade Monopoly....

been playing galciv fer a few wks already...i'm currently having 10 trade routes full...but 10 seems a bit too little to have a trade monopoly...so i got a few question to ask...
1) is there a victory condition tt can win the game by trade alone?
2)how do i create a trade monopoly...like increase the money coming in through trade(not counting starbases bonus)
3)if my trade partners depend on trade wif mi to sustain their income...then i can use tt to ruin them...but then...I WOULD RUIN MY OWN ECON TOO!!! hahax...yup tt's the question...how to make them depend on mi...but not me depend on them too???

1) No. But if you can develop a big trade network, you can probably win anyway you choose.

2) I've fallen foul of this. I guess you need a very large economy, and/or don't have all your trade with one civilisation, but several. You will really need to maximise the value of your trade routes so that they are valuable to your competitors.

one small trick is to make extra freigthers.
run them up to another empires planet. and have them wait there.
then if they or you :) make war.
they lose the trade route but you can quikley make new ones
with the ones you have hanging around. :)

Agreed with rollerrocker on having a few extra freighters already in position.

If you start off in a corner and build lots of trade-enhancing starbases, most of the races will come to you for new trade routes. How many trade routes you have isn't as important as how many trade routes the others have with you, since it will almost always be higher. In fact, once I reach the point that everyone wants to trade with me due to trade bonuses, I'll usually sell most of the techs that increase the number of trade routes to everyone, and then watch the freighters roll in. It's nothing unusual for me to have more income due to trade than taxing once I get this setup in place. It is a little riskier when you're out in the middle, because someone might path through your area to someone on the far side, getting even more money due to the combination of bonuses and distance.

Curious.
What happens if you build a freighter, then give it to a trade partner of yours?
Risky, might they use it then and there to trade with you?

Even more curious: if you give the freighter to someone and they then land it on your planet, what is the "source" of the freighter. I ask b/c isn't the source of the freighter the planet that built it? Does the trade go from your planet to your planet? Hey, what if they take the freighter and land it somewhere else? The source would be your planet, does that mean you would get the income for it?? Could be a way to "steal" someone else's trade-route slot...

so i can assume tt trade is a 2-way path...it benefits both me n my trade parnters...but is it possible to make sure i profit more than any of my trade parnters?? n so the trade route shown in the domestic trade screen is the trade route i ordered...but there's still extra income frm the civ tt use their own freighter to iniate trade wif mi??

Please try to use some semblance of proper grammar, punctuation and English.

If your question is: Is there anyway for me to get more from trade than those with whom I am trading the answer is no. The amount you see on your trade screen is the same amount your trading partner gets. If they got less, why the heck would they trade with you? They'd be better off trading with someone else.

I have traded for a freighter, and then landed it on its homeworld. A relatively nearby world of mine was then declared the origin. I assume the freighter was on its way there, but can't be certain. I traded for the freighter as soon as the Altarians launched it.
