ANZAC Empire, 'Bridging the Ditch' Thread

Yes Well... *cough* I was a little tired of posting on the Aussie Empire thread. ;)

*Intentionally cheesy opening Address*

So gather round all you ANZAC Citizens, Lend Me Your Ears... and your games, Forget whether your accent is more nasally than your neighbours and Post those Gigantic Games on Masochistic Difficulty! *pause for applause* Now Begone and play Galactic Civilizations till you starve, then play some more! Think GalCiv, Dream GalCiv, (Breath GalCiv?) ...Be THE GalCiv! and return only when you have defeated the evil intergalactic minions that plague us and halt our advance up the metaverse board.

*cough*

Yup, Let's beat em Guys.

Hmmm....thanks Gerakken....this opens up all new possibilities.....

I feel some global 'education' is in order....we can introduce the world to native ANZAC creatures...eeexxeellleenntt.... ;)

Dont forget the Australian Platypus Corps. The APC is completely amphibious and can generally overrum any position long before the defenders can stop laughing.

And watch out for the stealth bomber flying fox after being loaded up with mulberries.

purple rain anyone?

Actually G.R.O.S.S. has found a counter for all these creatures. Just broadcast "Ribbit, Croak, and other various frog sounds" over the loud speaker. They all run in fear.

If you're referring to cane toads, it's enough to make one weep. We've been capturing various little critters in the Northern Territory and taking them to islands, otherwise they won't survive. The thing is- they won't ever learn not to bite cane toads because its instant death. So another ecological disaster we've created. :notsure:

Thanks Fleet Captain. Am moving tomorrow, so will be out of action for a week or so because Telstra take at least that long to connect cable!

'Kane' Toads are awful, I won't go near them (yuk!). One of our dog's pups went blind in one eye after an altercation with one. What to do? :notsure:

I'll be in the Lab for a while working on a 'virus' we can introduce into thier population. Mabye with a bit of old-fashion elbow grease and some modest genetic engerneering we can produce an effective counter, or alternatively create a pathogen that will wipe out every living thing in the galaxy. Its a chance I willing to take :d
Reply #435 Top
Uh Cotal. Given your smiley face, your pathogin scheme is not allowed.

Chris is a legend. Too bad he didn't join G.R.O.S.S. with all the other board legends ;p

Of course no creature stands up to Threadzilla. And she's G.R.O.S.S.

You got to go where your gut tells you to go. If you feel ANZAC is your place, then it is your place.

Besides, with your reappearance as an ANZAC member, ANZAC is now only 70% good, Drop Bear. :D You are helping to take them into the dark side, and that is the side GROSS lives on. Muwahahaha! :)

Lou ferrigno will always be my favorite hulk.

Drop Bear is right where he needs to be. Converting Anzac into a G.R.O.S.s. southern auxiliary. :)

With my Laboritory work on a 'counter' to the plauge of mutant Toads a dismal failure I will instead devote my time to contacting this 'Mr Elric Banana' fellow (whoever he is) to pecure his services.

In addition by a fluke serendipity I have found the ultimate weopeon should Mr Banana require support.

The " W.I.G.G.L.E.S ! " :SURPRISED:

Naturaly these later mentioned mercenaries would only need to be called upon as a last resort, still its nice to know they're there ( shudder ! ). :)

Ignore this Chris - he wouldn't have respected you anyway!

Hey team - I need an ANZAC mascot for my elite new NSAC unit (No-Skill-All-Commitment). I am determined to pull myself up the rankings despite being a clueless wombat, by playing till my paws fall off. Give me an ANZAC native creature that symbolises "No skill all commitment"!

I have seen enough Crocodile Hunter Diaries to know those guys are bad news. That is what I call a kick arse weapon. Almost as good as the Doom's SSDC. GROSS needs effective counter-measures, such as not having young children who can get satellite TV signals from the land down under. Luckily, I think most of our members cannot get Aussie TV. Whew!

No, no, please don't bring up the WIGGLES. I wouldn't put them on my worst enemy.

Well given the choice of my kids watching the Wiggles (4 wholesome not-quite-so-young-any-more Aussie lads, 5 if you count Captain Feathersword) or Barney (a saccharine sweet purple dinosaur with and oh-so-carefully-balance racial mix of wholesome (yet strangely repellent) American kids I would take them outside to play in the pool.

In the beginning

In the beginning God created day and night. He created day for footy
matches, going to the beach and barbies. He created night for going
prawning, sleeping and barbies. God saw that it was good. Evening came and
morning came and it was the Second Day.

On the Second Day God created water - for surfing, swimming and barbies on
the beach. God saw that it was good. Evening came and morning came and it
was the Third Day.

On the Third Day God created the Earth to bring forth plants - to provide
malt and yeast for beer and wood for barbies. God saw that it was good.
Evening came and morning came and it was the Fourth Day.

On the Fourth Day God created animals and crustaceans for chops, sausages,
steak and prawns for barbies. God saw that it was good. Evening came and
morning came and it was the Fifth Day.

On the Fifth day God created a bloke - to go to the footy, enjoy the beach,
drink the beer and eat the meat and prawns at barbies. God saw that it was
good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Sixth Day.

On the Sixth Day God saw that this bloke was lonely and needed someone to go
to the footy, surf, drink beer, eat and stand around the barbie with. So God
created Mates, and God saw that they were good blokes. God saw that it was
good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Seventh Day.

On the Seventh Day God looked around at the twinkling barbie fires, heard
the hiss of opening beer cans and the raucous laughter of all the Blokes,
smelled the aroma of grilled chops and sizzling prawns and God saw that it
was good.... well almost good. God saw that the blokes were tired and needed
a rest. So God created Sheilas - to clean the house, bear children, wash,
cook and clean the barbie. God saw that it was not just good, it was better
than that, it was bloody good.
IT WAS AUSTRALIA!!

..and of course after all the experimenting on Australia god went on to do her finest work...NEW ZEALAND!!!
Good one Kiwi Greg! Hey, how does it count as the finest work if God ended up changing most of the Blokes to sheep? ;p

And BTW - did you try out SWG? Stuff on the Net suggests it's looking pretty crap.....

The Wiggles - don't knock the Wiggles - I think we should appoint them to our crack commando unit, they have a future....

Bakka - YES!! The Galah Squad! OK - now if RayChua asks you why you haven't submitted your third Crippling game for the week, you can look him in the eye, place your hands on your hips defiantly, and say proudly: "BECAUSE I'M A GALAH!"

I think the Galah Squad should have different rules to the narrow, segregational Metaverse empires. Firstly - there shall be NO RULES. Secondly - every citizen shall be considered a member on an 'opt out' basis. Thus, the galah squad currently has just over six billion members and we expect to completely control the Metaverse sometime Tuesday afternoon. Thank you all for coming.

No idea what Galah is. So I googled and here's the deal:

"The Galah can make an excellent pet, with even wild caught young birds capable of becoming affectionate and friendly birds. They will however often become a little unpredictable when mature, and should never be allowed to spend time on a shoulder. They are extremely playful and intelligent birds, which, like most cockatoos, need constant stimulation with toys to play with, and objects to chew, to keep them from getting bored. They are not generally noisy, apart from early morning and evening, although some are the exception to the rule. Both sexes can become good talkers, possibly with the males being somewhat better, however their talking ability is not usually on a par with either Sulphur-crested Cockatoos or the Corellas."

Unpredicable when mature - well that's definitely ANZAC.

Should never be allowed to spend time on shoulder - hmmm, must remember that.

Need constant stimulation with toys to play with, and objects to chew, to keep them from getting bored - That's why ANZACs play Galciv, just like Bobo.

Both sexes can become good talkers, possibly with the males being somewhat better - Most definitely from what I see in this thread, though Cotal bucks the trend.

A most appropriate new name for the ANZACs, Wombie. The Galah Squad!!!

Hey SW

Yeah I spent all weekend playing SWG (and I mean *all* weekend). there were some initial log in problems and also some issues with the UI not remaining stable between log in and log (or crash) out.

The graphics are awesome, I mean really awesome. You *have* to spend R&R time watching entertainers to lower your battle fatigue, and some of them are really really good :).

The designed player interdependency is also really interesting as is the experience system. You get exp for successfully using your skills rather than explicitly for killing things. Entertainers get exp when people watch them (you watch entertainers to lower your battle fatigue), healers when they heal, artisans get exp when people use the things they make.

Some of the animal mob AI is incredible. Like the ostrich type birds who keep following you around out of curiousity or th time I was ambushed by a bunch of cat-type creatures who worked as a team.

It seems very difficult to "grief" another player. The bazaar system is great. Most of the best equipment is player made. It is very easy to solo as well as group. Missions to get cash and exp and faction are essentially group or player specific so there is no camping.

What are the downsides?

Well I know some people are really disappointed that most mobs dont drop phat lewt. So if you kill an animal you can skin it or harvest its meat but you wont find a +18 vorpal sword of total death on it.

It seems very empty at times - it might be the server I am playing on but the universe is so big there often doesnt seem to be many people around.

There are some complaints (after 4 days!!) that there is not enough "high end" content. There are few dungeons.

Personally I quite like it. It seems to be a game designed for adults and I suspect all the L3w7 folk from EQ and other games will tire of it quickly. This is a good thing :)
