Can't stop winning!

(Keep in mind that I'm new)

I played several different scenarios and 3 times so far I've won the game with a "cultural win".

I actually DO NOT want to win that way but it pops up anyway. Does this have to do with my alien opponents being too unintelligent or maybe too good of an alignment? Would that have an effect?

I actually have built up some big time economics and researched every possible thing, now I wanted to have a military takeover of my gigantic galaxy.

How do I avoid this cultural win after many long hours of gameplay. I think it should be something sought after, it shouldn't happen automatically. It's kinda like saying that every planet in the galaxy just joined the human race...when there's still a hundred (well not that many) planets to take over.

If you don't want to disable cultural victory altogether -- which you can do when you set up the game -- getting yourself into a war should suffice.

No kidding???

Being that I will not have a chance to play until this weekend...I'll ask now:

Where exactly do you disable cultural victory??? And can it be done even after the game is already started?

I seem to recall that in the lower-left corner of one of the start screens, there's a checkbox to let you do so. But for a game that's already in progress, war might be the only quick option. 'course, you could build a culture-heavy starbase and trade/give it away...

You must have the bonuspack installed to disable cultural victory. So update your game and there you go.

I wish I could say I couldn't stop winning! I'm playing medium maps on normal difficulty and seem to win only 1/3 games. I'm going to stick with this setup until my wins are more consistent.

Even if you set the culture victory off, you're still going to wind up conquering all the planets with your high culture anyway, so it really doesn't affect your strategy.

Culture victory is the only way to win. You don't have enough manpower to take over all those AI worlds by force. (I suppose you could build terror stars and blow up the enemy planets--I haven't tried this yet.)

Even if you blow up the enemy planets with terror stars, it still means that you are using constructors to take out the enemy.

Use a bunch of constructors to build a terror star. Build a bunch of constructors to build a Party Palace. With the latter, you get to keep the world with all of its population and other goodies.

You can stop yourself winning after the game has started by building culture filled SBs and giving them to the other races.

I find that the best way to stop winning is to increase the difficulty level. But that's just me.. ;)

The Leader. Your simple tactics are surely NOT that easy at intelligent and above level.
