It is said often that the typical person in the US is very insolated from the rest of the world and is only interested in there own lives. . Interesting . .
Since I have had dealings with many people from all over the world, it seems MOST people Globally end up very isolated from the rest of the world for various reasons. The majority honestly don’t care what happens far away if it does not affect them. (Note. “far away” varies greatly on the person/ from down the road to the next country) This is even more prevalent if their life is a very content one. Hence the “screw the world, I just want to live and die in my home town” attitude that an overwhelming majority of the worlds “normal” people feel. Only a rather few people (note since we are talking world population this is still rather large number) really care about what happens across the world and most because they have a direct personnel tie or interest entangled with it. So since people only really bother with world events when it might matter to them (effect there lifestyle in some way) typically they tend to be real novices at gleaning and understanding the information they can get (note. what they CAN get is very much related with were they are).
So, yes since most Americans are rather content they tend to be bad at getting, filtering, and understanding the world events they may be interested in just like any other content person in any other country. But in contrast there are still others that can’t get Any real world information, others that can only get very tainted versions (controlled information) and still others that can’t relate at all so are incapable on any real understanding. Let alone the language, cultural, historical and religious differences that color that news they do get . . does anyone wonder why it is almost impossible to really get a good handle and understanding of world events even IF you cared?
Like “common sense” where most everyone that thinks they have enough or a abundance of and it is same majority that categorically do not. I have met allot of people (surprisingly most European though some Indian and others) that believe they have a “unique” and better view of world events then all others. This tends to be a sore point in political and world news debates . . All I have seen is that this minority is normally are just pushing their own world view agenda and suppressing others and also surprisingly narrow minded outside that view . . and thus they are really less “worldly” then some other people that know by experience they have a real limited view and are humbled by it but are still trying to expand it.
