It's doing really well. But it'll never outsell MOO 3 any more than My Big Fat Greek Wedding could do more business than Star Wars Episode II.
Distribution is really the key. Let me give you an example, MOO 3 started out with 12,000 units in store on day 1 in a certain large chain. GalCiv started out with 1,600 in the same chain.
Reorders are based on a percentage of how fast the original copies sold. So let's say we started out with 4 per store of chain X. And we sold out in day 1. So they would reorder 5 units. And then go to 6 and so on.
Which means that we lose out on a lot of sales as a result. It's the nature of the game industry (or movie industry, music industry, etc.).
The really telling statistic has been Amazon.com because on there, all games are on an equal footing since there is no stocking level issue. We peaked at 3rd, right now it's 6th. We started out at like 400th since we had pretty much no pre-orders. So overall things have gone really well. Much better than expected.
