Trade goods and wonders

One thing I'd like to see is a message that pops up whenever any race begins work on a trade good/wonder (listing which system it's being built on), as well as another warning shortly before completion.

Also, does anyone know what happens to production put towards trade goods/wonders if somebody beats you to completing it?

Warnings and progress lists would be nice, but then the AI will be at a slight disadvantage because the human player can always purchase the trade goods or wonders one turn before the AI completes them. If it is implemented, the AI must be tought to return the favor and purchase trade goods and wonders early too, perferrably combined with some espionage so they can calculate whether or not a human player is capable of purchasing the same item too.

Production towards trade goods and wonders are lost when someone else complete them first.

I for 1 am glad they don't anounce them. for one it in a sense forces you to try to build them first by not knowing if someone else is constructing it.plus as mentioned above you could just flat out buy it if he gets close and to me thats cheating.plus that might make it too much like CIVILIZATION 3.

Yes.. how *would* you know? Perhaps an espionage result should be finding out what they are currently building and researching, if you pump enough money into it. Other than that, you should *not* know when and if they are building a wonder or a trade good. Just be the first, if it is important to your strategy! LOL

I prefer to not know when someone else is building a Wonder or trade good, but I hate seeing all the production wasted. It would be nice to see at least a percentage of that work go towards something else; I'm not sure how that could be accomplished with the way the production queues are structured right now, though.

fleabitfox has a good idea. I'd like to know what the AI is building but it should only come as a result of espionage. However, if either the player or the AI is in the top 2 in the influence catagory, perhaps building projects should be known as their culture is so far reaching.
