The latest patch should have solved this problem.

Trade goods give you certain benefits. Those are described when you start building it. When you have one you can trade the 'user license' to other races so that they get the benefits of the good too, but they pay you good money for it.

How do you trade this user license???

Go into the diplomacy screen with whatever race or empire you want to license it to, click on the appropriate trade good on the left side, then take the AI for whatever it'll give you on the right side. It's traded like everything else.

Also, most of the trade goods will give you huge advantages - never sell diplomatic translators. Only sell stuff that helps your ships (micro repair bots, tri-strontium alloy) to minors, etc.

Yeam I never would part with gravity accelerators. Those things are the deadliest things in the game in my hands :(

Yup. Also, correct me if I am wrong, but once you trade a trade good to another race, they can only benefit from it, right? They can't trade it to anyone else? At least, this is how it SHOULD be.

They can't trade it, as far as I know.

I trade gravity accelerators to the minor races, but then I rarely get into wars with them, and usually end up on good terms.

What's a fitting price for any of them ? I know the AI doesnt understand trade deals lasting longer than 20 turns so how much should one ask for one trade good ?

About 50/20 is seems to be what I get when selling to a minor race with enough money. Slightly less to major races, unless my diplo advantage is huge.

Maybe I'm being dense here- if you trade the good to another empire- do you and the other empire now get the benefit? Or do you lose the benefit?

You still keep it.

And I often set up deals for 200 turns, 500 turns, 1000 turns. The AI will deal for the entire game. It uses a pretty formula to calculate out the base value of an item, modified by your standing, and modified by your diplomacy (minus theirs), and with some fudge factor for the interest rate that you can mark up.

I don't know the exact formula, mind you, but that's what seems to be the big modifiers from what I've seen.

The computer also seems to like certain numbers for payment for turn.

The trick is that the # of months slider just won't go past that 50 line. But it will take it as a straight input into the box.

Using this, you can secure some serious long term bonus with nice markup. Just like Mitrosoft...

And it is not fixed in 049...
