Frogboy,

I've had the same problem and I've seen other mention it. There appears to be a bug in SDC where it will refuse to see newer versions. I un-installed gal civ and then re-installed to fix the problem.

I'm not sure. I am not involved with Stardock Central, I just work on the game. ;)

Just to clarify (in case someone who is working on SDC reads this), I was working with an admin on the chat server and tried everything he could think of before I un-installed. (clicked on all the stuff in tools, erased XML files, erased tmp data, etc.) So I'm relatively sure it's not me since he couldn't figure it out either..

Thanks Frogboy, you da man! :)

Is the BonusPak 1.0.004 also new, as it appears to be? Also the other stuff dated 04/07/2003.

I got the .039 was about 900K and also the Bonus pack update. There were updates for the multimedia and .pdf manual but these ran through so fast I don't think anything downloaded or it was very small, was there any size to those or just version number updates?

Works now. What I had to do was "Refresh Application Data." But unfortunately I have to wait until I finish work and meetings before I can check it out.

Hey, wait. I'm having a tough time on my current Gigantic-Intelligent game. Do I really want to make the AI smarter?

I finally had to stop updating the multimedia portion since it had taken over 2 hours to get half way through it on a cable modem. Is there a problem or is it really that large?
There have been no updates to the multimedia since release. So if you have the CD, just use that.

If the multimedia hasn't been updated, then why is there a newer release number?

Wow. No updates to the multimedia? Then it's just a reset for the normal time/daylight savings time deal?

Yep.

and it says i can update it...history states data not available.

I found it.

"1.02.40 April 7, 2003
New Features:
+ Trade screen will update on the fly when you're using the money slider on trade deals."

Fast and furious, now. LOL

Well crap. I uninstalled everything to get the mm update to work, and now I have *NO* multimedia since the "new" one won't install.

Still confused on the Multimedia update. My version shows as 1.0.004 and it states that the current version available is 1.0.006. I have the CD but don't understand how I would use it to update anything.

Haha- ten minutes after I d/l and update, a NEW UPDATE comes in! LOL customer service with initiative! :)

Brad, I get the following error message trying to update to 1.02.040 --

"There was an error installing Galactic Civilizations. The following error occurred:

Result: Failed (attempt 2)
Downloading: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\temp\Base\galciv.ex_
Result: Failed (incorrect file size)"

It asks then if I want to view the log file. Know where I can send it (if that would help)?
