Impressed by the no.1 player

Technician is head and shoulders above everyone in the Metaverse and I was wondering if he could share some tips with us. I note that he has a string of 60,000 point games - sometimes submitted apparently on the same day! I'm presuming he has multiple games being played at the same time? I struggle to handle anything above normal difficulty and I note regularl successes at Masochistic. Could you share wisdom?

There are lots of strategies posted in the Strategies Forum (button on the left Nav-Bar). In addition most empires have their own strategy threads. I encourage you to join an empire as it will enhance your enjoyment of the game, and you'll also enjoy the camraderie. To check out the various empires, visit the Empire button of the left Nav-Bar. And yes, we're all impressed with Tech's submission rate.

Technician is playing to a formula that allows him to finish a game in about 1 hour or less.

Many of the top players have some sort of formula that they play. Some play a game in hour some take 2 hours or more.

The strategy forum shows many tips and tricks and in some cases complete strategies for beating MASO.

Chipperoo gave a good suggestion though you should consider joining an empire. Although if you have specific questions ask away and they will be answered quickly.

WOW!! A Maso game in IN HOUR!!! That's something special. I may join an empire eventually - for now I'm very happy plodding along with my 1 week long normal games. Many thanks for your responses - I'll need to look into this empire thing.

As you maybe aren't aware, but lots of fun come from trying to understand how to beat the AI. When you have found the trick, you might be able to increase your submission rate (having a fast computer and turning off some options help too).

There is a cap at 60K. In 1.21, it can only be achieved on military win on gigantic maso. But with AP (1.51), you can have it win alliance victory with various galaxy size and difficulty.

One thing to remember: you win by alliance victory when all remaining majors AI are allied with you. You can achieve that even if they are at war between each other, as long as you manage to form all alliances in the same turn.

One more thing: some have been burn out by reading maso strategy and submitting too much maso games in a short amount of time. They got bored and didn't want to lessen difficulty to experience more varied AI since they will drop in the metaverse ladder due to less scoring submitted games.

Many thanks for your tips Peace Phoenix. I'll keep plodding along with my no doubt less than efficient strategies for now. If I read about how gods play the game, I'll likely just get frustrated about how crud I am. A normal game every now and then is perfect for me - and will no doubt keep Galciv on my hard-drive for a long time.

you don't need to post multitude of games to get into the top .. simply be a regular player.. see the message "Millionares club" for metaverse posting stratagies on the time scales involved in reaching the million point mark.. yoiu can do it in less than 50 games if you pick the right posting stratagy and level.. or you can get there quickly in a month by posting about 290 games in the one month..

Don't forget AGING... if you post lots of games you LOOSE 5% of ALL your games as they age (move from one 30 day block down to the next 30 day block) so if you can't keep up the submition rate then you COULD end up going BACKZWARDS...

Analalyse your games and style that you play.. and about how many games you can submit as a minimum each month.. then submit your scores accordingly.. Then you can always play more and keep your surpluss games saved in reserve for when you can't play.. this way you can stay regular..

eg: I know that if i don't have enything to do that i can play up to 4 games a day.. but most od the time I can only get in a game every 1-2 days ... so thats how set my submition rate.. to less than 1 game every 1-2 days..

And don't forget that if ands when you can't submit a game in any 30 day block that your scores WILL suffer the consequences for 2900 days.. till the empty block is at the end of the aging period.. speaking from experience here.. I have 3 empty blocks.. and when they age and get aligned into blocks then my score plummets and takes forever to catch up again.. So keep a COUPLE OF GAMES SAVED AND NOT SUBMITTED ASS SPARES SO THAT THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO YOU

Well, since one of those empty period goes from 03/13/04 to 05/02/04 (50 days without submission), it has now reach the 70 days blocks, so it won't be no longer generate empty block.

But the following submissions you have made will generate one empty block:
- 06/21/04
- 08/03/04
- 08/31/04

And the empty block will appear on the 10/20/04. If you don't sumit at least 2 60K games before submitting one after the 10/20/04, you will temporary quit the millionar club. You will go back to the millionar club on the 11/02/04.

arghhhh...I've been submitting a lot of games lately hoping to avoid the empty blocks damage....

How much longer till I get rid of them alltogether I hate submitting games of 60k and still seeing my score drop

You will always experience the drop: you just can't add games in previous blocks, which is the only way to correct empty block.

On the bright side, if you keep submitting games regularly, on the 12/02/04, you will no longer have empty block since the game from the 08/03/04 will enter the 121-150 days old block and the 06/21/04 will be in the 151-220 days old block.

If you submit one game per week from now, you will have:
- on the 11/02/04 1047 K
- on the 12/02/04 1048 K
- on the 01/02/05 1100 K
- on the 02/02/05 1094 K
- on the 03/02/04 1126 K
- on the 04/02/04 1083 K

Even if you have no longer empty block, having at some time 17 games in a block and few month later 1 game in the same block isn't a very great thing. But it is better than having 0 game in this block :)

And the submission surge you have made lately will have some lasting effects if you drop submission rate

looks like I need to submit more than 4 / month now for me score to go up... dam.... :( oh well..at least it should point out to others by example exactly what I've been saying now for almost a year.. slow and sure wins the race... LOL

I don't think that I can keep up my pace as i've been playing.. I may be able to get about 8-10 games a month

Please everyone learn from my mistakes and my over corrections..

ANYthing you do has long lasting effects... upto 290 days worth( till aging stops)

I think that the scoring in the metaverse is absolutly fantastic... :) a great challenge in mastering it and great diciplin is needed to master it... It is in its own right a game unto itself.. Far more superior to ANY other ladder/high score system.. its way superior and makes you think about your submitions to the metaverse.. My highest praises to Stardock.. Bloody Brilliant... :CONGRAT: :HOT:
