From 13+ games to 2? - Is that 'metaverse degradation'?

Hello all,

I've been a reasonable constant player of AP, submitting a game at least once every three weeks for a while. I note that my metaverse ranking suddnely took a plunge and I checked out what happened. It seems all but my last 2 games disappeared. This might be due to the 'metaverse degradation' of games that I've been hearing about. Just wanting to clarify if that is indeed the case. It seems quite stark if so, but I will suck it up and just play more frequently I guess (oh dear :) )

Perhaps 'degraded' games could still be listed, but not scored? Or put in a separate 'old games' section under one's Metaverse profile?

Many thanks,
Mightygoobi

My games from 2003 are still there. You don't lose games from degradation. They just don't coutn as much towards your ranking score.

No, score degradation does not cause games to disappear from your record. Did you upgrade to Totalgaming.net recently? If you did, the newer games are submitted under TG's registration number and the older games are still associated with the AP/GC registration number. You would need to go

http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp

and follow the instructions for score conversion in order for the older games to reappear.

If you haven't upgraded to TG, someone from Stardock will need to find out where your games went.

LOL

Frogboy beat me to it while looked for the link.

Yep, checked his profile.  He needs to convert his scores.

Hello veterans,

I'm a little confused. I signed up for the TGN package. I recently formatted my hard-drive and reinstalled everything, included Gal Civ and AP. I have only one TGN serial number and have been using that all along. I don't think I've 'upgraded' in anyway - just returned to what I had before. I do not see this 'convert' option anywhere. Could someone lend a hand?

Many thanks

Sorry, I assumed that you had started out with a Gal Civ serial number and were submitting with that one, then upgraded and started submitting with that one.

I looked you up in the database. You have 12 records submitted under Goobigoo.  You have 2 records submitted under MightyGoobi (the two that are showing up).  You can't change the name that you submit with and still have all your scores to show up.  If you want your scores to still show up, you have to re-register your serial with Goobigoo and I can change the 2 records with MightyGoobi to use Goobigoo and then all 14 scores will show up in one place.

I don't manually change people's records on a regular basis.  So make certain that you stick with one name.

Dear CariElf,

Many thanks for explaining that. I also appreciate the quick response and offer of assistance. I must have inadvertently messed up my names - it was not my intention to change names. If I stick with MightyGoobi, could you 'add' the old GoobiGoo names to this? I wonder if it would be useful to offer players the opportunity to 'lock' their name in. It's only me that uses this computer and I've no desire to have multiple personalities?

Many thanks again

Dear Carielf,

I'm just putting out a gentle email to see if there is something I can do to assist in sorting out the consolidation of goobigoo and mightygoobi games. If I can register or click on something, I'm happy to do so.

many thanks

Well... This is not my case.
My son and I are both playing GC on the same PC- why shouldn't we be allowed to have 2 names?
(btw he plays at home when I'm working - so no fights for the PC except on rainy weekends ;) but thanks God Italy is sunny enough ;) ;) )

Wait a minute... winter is coming... (:(

Anyhow - anyone else sharing GC with a son (daughter, partner, parent, etc)? No way of having 2 names in the Meta???

Thats no problem, all you need are different email adresses for the single accounts, I have three for myself.

Nice point Markos2 and one I had not considered. I unfortunately live a bit far away from my family to have us all playing on the same computer and you have my envy! :)

Seems like the current system accomodates both of us - so far as I understand. I just need to make sure I keep the same name once things get sorted out.

Icho, thx a lot - you saved me from buying another copy of GC... or from spoiling my average scores!

Mightygoobi, you should be set now. I changed your records in the database to use MightyGoobi, so you can continue to use that one.

Markos2,

To set up another account for your son, have him create a stardock.net account with his own e-mail address.  Then have him sign into the forums with that Stardock.net account and register your serial number with his player name.  Then when he submits, he can submit with his player name and e-mail address and it should show up in his profile.

Madai831, make certain that you go to the register link from the metaverse page.  I'm not seeing a serial number associated with your profile.
