An interesting solar system

During my first game, I ran across an interesting solar system. It is yellow-green and has no planets...but has a base influence of 54. Any info on what this means? Or rather, how do I get a slice of that influence pie?

I've never seen that before, but if there were no planets, then you don't get any influence. That said, no one else does, either.

Well I've seen it loads of times, I would venture to say that on every game where I've looked there have been empty stars with some influence, on rare occasions you'll get an empty star system whose influence is up in the top 10 systems in the galaxy, these can occur in sectors without any populated or populateable star systems.

Mabey in galciv II we can build solar colonys so all that influence doesn't go to waste.

Or use a constructor to build and upgrade a habitation space station in orbit might be an idea?

Many times I'll colonize a planet that is below PQ 8 just get get that influence bonus. Makes it easy to culture flip and AI plaent, then I'll abandon the colony.
