Homeworld Music

So anyway, I remember fondly the music from Homeworld portraying the sense of expansiveness, isolation, and foreboding of space, so I downloaded the Homeworld music files from here: http://www.atomicgamer.com/directory.php?id=2457 , which the Relic Forums say is legal and legit, in order to give that same lonely spacey feel to Sins. I'm wondering if there is a way to replace the Sins music with these MP3 files.

I know the general topic of changing the music has come up in other threads. I tried putting the Homeworld music on a playlist and running that separately, but it just wasn't the same. The Homeworld music got its power from the pregnant pauses between the songs, and also sounded better when it arose from an event, with different pieces being more appropriate for different sorts of events.

Basically I'd like to try replacing Sins song files with Homeworld ones, or maybe something similar, like that far off middle easterny techno-mood sound if anyone has any recommendations.

I have a question. Would there be any serious consequences to just taking out some of the pieces of music? Instead of having 12 quiet pieces, can I just have one or two? I'm importing a bunch of halo music in, and while I know that their is PLENTY of Halo music throughout all 5 soundtracks, I don't want to convert them all and rename them etc. So can I just have 2 quiets? Will the game simply skip over the ones that are missing?

Good question, Dirtrider. I'd like to know that too - also if you could have additional tracks of a certain kind.

And as a side note, there are a number of tracks from the Battlestar Galactica soundtracks that would fit in excellently, especially since at times it sounded like the Homeworld 2 composers and Bear McCreary (the Battlestar composer) were on nearly the same page for how space battles should be scored.
