More detailed planets ? Planet habitability below 12 ?

More detailed planets ? Planet habitability below 12 ?

Does anybody knows whether more detailed planets (a la MOO 2) are planned by the developpers in a future expansion pack ?

Other question: what the heck do you do with planets with hability ratings less than 12 ? The manual strongly suggests anything below 15 is grossly unusable. A 12 planet can be raised to 14-15 with basic technologies. Anything below 10 cannot reach 15 whatever your techs...
So, why are there so many planets with no use whatsoever ? (aside note: in MOO2, it made sense to colonize a low habitability world when that world gave hefty production bonuses; here, there is nothing of the kind).

Perhaps its better to think of PQ as a purely an economic quality. While future tech might make it possible to live on a fiery inferno, what would be the point when you have to encase all your people in flame proof domes. You might as well just build a starbase, where you only have the familiar worries of vacuum and radiation to deal with.

If you think of PQ as an economic measure, the only thing to change would be the pictures... here's me hoping for some pics of planets made out of solid gold LOL

As to different planet qualities ... Not really needed, and adds a lot of hassel to the AI.

Dyson sphere's are just huge though.

Would be cool to see, they have them in Space Empires IV, and it takes enormous resources to put them into existance.

Funny to see on a GalCiv map though.

"Planet type should become LESS of an issue the higher the tech becomes."

It does. You can build more advanced terrain improvement projects that improve habitability, thus making lower-quality worlds accessible.

E-Tigger - Dyson sphere would just be shown as a massive (I hate to say, but we don't want to change the game much) "planet" with the star, you might even change the star graphic a touch (like metal :D )
It would seem easy to mod no drastic changes to make.

Asharak - the point is that 3/4 the planets at the beginning are not useable and that lowers to ~2/3 later. Planet rating 1-10 are simply not used unless a rare event happens or very end game (and then you don't care)
Simply making some more useful in some ways it not a big or even problematic change. A tech or two and a condition and a limitaion.
