I LOVE THIS GAME!

BEST. RTS. EVER.

After the disappointment of Supreme Commander I didn't have super high hopes on this game. But having spent the better part of the afternoon and evening playing first single player and then one game multiplayer all I can say is WOW.

Congratulations Stardock / Ironclad. A job well done. This is seriosuly the first rtS with emphasis on S. A real time STRATEGY game.

Who else has played? What do you think? I have some suggestions for updates if anyone would like to hear them.

I'm really bad at this game still, not played a proper game yet, but I'm liking it so far. I was the same, SupCom really disappointed me, but this game is great.

I am developing an affinity for this game as well, I just have tons and tons and tons of stuff to figure out... excellent job on polishing the game, it looks and runs fantabulously...

The only gripe I have is the short tutorial, but as others have mentioned, getting ruined by playing other people/AI is probably the best way to learn.

Be careful! It is like an insidious virus and once infected your life will be ruined unless you are of supreme mental health and can fight the urge!

Bravos all around!

At first I was put off by the lack of depth in the ship-vs-ship area but that's OK. Then other things started taking me... has anyone watched the home planet up close? When a continent moves into the night side you can actually watch the lights in the cities come on. I mean, really now. There are so many little touches that really just sell this thing. Love the Empire tree, not sure how I'll ever go back to Sup Com's little "This engineer is waiting on your input" fly-out. Tho the ET could use some sort of "Hide Me" button somehow. Occasionally it's nice to just watch a battle.

But wow, just wow.

Totally agreed. I haven't tried multiplayer yet, but I've been playing singleplayer on and off (newbie frustrations kick in every now and then) for about 7 hours. Other than the learning curve, my only complaint has to be that the AI diplomacy seems to involve mostly killing other ships or stations. Everything else I've just been loving. Fantastic game.

I've longed for a game like this since I first played Moo, and I thought I might live to see one when I first picked up Gal Civ 2. It looks pretty and plays well, with a little bit of everything I like in my home grown space operas.

Xan said it, this really is one of the very few existing rts games.

Thanks Stardock!

Glad to see a majority of people are enjoying the game. Unfortunately trolls are starting to appear on some of the more prominent game sites.....(sigh)Isn't that always the case for new games?

This game is slowly but surely becoming virtual liquid crack for me

I predict lot's of productivity loss due to this game. Damn you ironclad!!!!

I would post something to the similar effect of addictive, awe-inspiring, and face melting but I am unable to pull myself from the game.  ;)

This game is ****ing awsome! Once downloaded last night I played until I had to go to sleep, to go to work this morning. Unfortunately, sleeping was hard due to thinking about how best to play the game lol. Now I have to go to work, damnit.

This game feels truely unique. The scope for longevity is also huge. It's been a long time since I really thought wow, I could play this game all year. So very impressed.

I'm very disappointed with the planetary military units. I would've liked a larger range of turrets, the one you start with seems fairly ineffectual, the the upgrades are negligible. As it is, I've nearly given up on planetary defenses and switched to maintaining a couple fleets for defense, but its gets pretty hard to manage when you're getting pirate and AI rushed at the same time.

Other than my total inability to maintain a consistent defense I'm enjoying the game quite a lot.

Right now... I was one of the better testers... The complete game feels like a new game. All I can say is.... DAMN YOU IronClad/Stardock, here I am sitting at the office, tired as hell. I was actually contemplating calling in sick today, but EXCO would have none of that.

But anyway, brillaint job... yes brilliant.

Thanks for all the support everyone but don't forget the role the beta testers played in this too :) Now if only we could out-voice these viral trolls...

Loving this also. A bit of confussion now and again with researching, and trying to identify the enemy vessels by sight is still sinking in. Only problems I am having at the moment is trying to identify the class and function of the Pirates vessels to know which to focus fire on first. The other one is a slight annoyance with the Bounty system where the AI generally outbids me right at the second the Pirates decide their target for their attacks (:( .

Other than that I can see myself playing this for quite a few long sessions over the coming weeks and beyond. Which is something I haven't seen from a game in a long time.

I bet I will be dreaming about this game in my sleep. :(

The way they released it with devs everywhere on IRC and Forums and in the game lobby helping people was fecking amazing!!!

And then the 1200Kb download speed :) 1276Kb was my record lolz.

And Craig ur evil but finally u GIMME GAME haha, love the game.

Hey not everyone will like this. If you are adrenaline junky i suggest using Fast game speed. Since even the simplest game can take an hour on Normal.

The game is absolutely fantastic. Pure win.

It's deep enough to keep you interested / challenged and it has a coolness factor that is hard to quantify but easy to appreciate.

Well done.

And now if you will all excuse me... my fleets await.

I got my email, about 7pm(UK).
I downloaded it through their servers at 890kb/s !!
I loaded up a single player game at about 8:45 to "test it out and get the hang of things"
I went to bed at 2:45 and am gagging to play now.
Love it.

I'd also like to compliment Stardock's tremendous download speeds, again from the UK. Assumed I wouldn't be able to play until today!

Incredible. I'm cursing my degree for forcing me towards lectures right now.

Yeah Ironclad and Stardock are really starting to set a positive standard in how to support gamers. And Stardick Central is such a simple, clean utility for downloading/updating games. These guys know that sometimes the KISS (keep it simple stupid) principal really pays off.

Another UK buyer and I simply can not believe how this didn't get a retailer over here when stores like game etc are selling powerrangers crap. Best purchace in a long time and I commend the lengths Ironclad and Stardock have gone to to get this brilliant game to us.

Ahem...wish there was an edit function...cough...

I'll be breaking my fingers now...

Ya this game is a definate winner. I still have a little hope in the human race, the trolls will be drown out by the majority on this one. It may take a month or so but it will happen.

I would like slightly larger icons... I have a hard time telling types of ships apart from a glance running at high resolution... Maybe I just haven't played enough :-D

As long as you don't whimper too much, you'll get through this alive.

Regarding the icon size at high rez, I've found it a bit of a mixed bag. At this point zooming in on anything I want to look at has become second nature, though. The zoom on cursor feature is incredibly useful.
