PS: When I did the manually installed update available on the epic games launcher, it re-installed the game completely instead of trying to over-write .65 alpha. So, I have two separate GalCiv's on my PC right now. Easy for me to fix but you should be aware.
There are two separate downloads, one is the regular game, the other is the Test branch, for patches before they go "final".
Gotcha. I have noticed some speed improvements in the game and some of the repetition is a bit better but I still can't access a tech that i'm supposed to have access to (researched all previous required techs) directly from the tech tree screen. For example, the game puts up five suggested techs to research and if you ignore one for too long, it drops it from the suggestions list. You can see the techs from the tech tree screen but clicking on them does nothing to bring them up on the suggested tech research screen, so you can't really research them.
I'm also still getting stuck turns, too. It's better but it's happening when i'm sending out fleets to invade planets. It's almost like the invasion wants to continue and not pause for the end of the turn. I watch my little fleets get stuck in a loop pounding a planet from space as the rest of the turn's progress halts. My workaround so far was suggested by another contributor, which is to save the game, exit to the main menu and then restart the game.
For the wonderful bug finding coders of Stardock: I'm happy to re-upload my save game files to my google drive for your review. Let me know when you're back to work and ready for it.
Cheers and happy to help. It's getting really cool, guys.
P.s.: I haven't done it in a while but I tried to hex edit the save file to see if I could identify any features of the game saves for anything that looked familiar (owned planet names, credits, etc.). I didn't see much if anything that I could recognize on site but I didn't take a hard look at it either. I guess my old nostalgic hacker skills have gone by the wayside.
Cheers,
