[Mod Request] AI Control or Removal

AI Mod

Hi o/

I have been playing Sins on and off since it was released and have always enjoyed it. I am looking to get back into it, but with all the new changes I am not sure how most of the tech tree works or how to run a successful campaign. What I am looking to do right now is try to build a test version of SOASE with a mod that can control all enemy AI. Either turn it off or make it play a certain way, or remove it altogether. Then turn the AI back on or add it in and play a regular or modded game.

I am not sure if this exists in an existing mod, or is something I can build myself. Your input and direction is greatly appreciated.

Maybe I can tell you what I plan. I'd like to make specific maps where the AI acts in a specific way. One map I would call "Against the Pirates." where there is no other players, except a pirate faction. Just a lot of them. How would I start building that mod?

Before I start a game, I have to choose one opponent; is there a way to remove that? Maybe just put some active pirates in?

You actually used to be able to do this before Rebellion, but it was taken out for some reason.

Best you can do for specific maps is to set randomize positions to false and have player 2s homeworld not have any phase lanes. That's what I did in my free tutorial map.

If you're just using it for testing, you can disable the AI via the developer.exe.

I also want to add that I am reading your guide to dev.exe and it is helpful. I am on your map right now. It's georgious, however, I keep getting the following error:

Ah, that's actually a slight side effect of using the dev.exe. That map was made using an early version of Rebellion that the game can still use just fine, but it throws warnings in the dev.exe.

You can edit your rebellion.user.dev.setting file in notepad and set the "ShowErrors" line to FALSE to turn them off.
