In other words you don't notice any changes? Is your checksum 0? If so, when you extracted the zip file or whatever it made an extra folder and the game can't find the mod. Get rid of the extra folder and you should fix the problem.
Also, it's best to ask these kinds of things on the particular mod's thread/website. The mod creators can help you best.
