Make a copy of a ships entity and add it to the manifest. Tell the new ship entity to use our new ship mesh. We will take it one step at a time from there.
The shield is fairly easy. If you have 3ds max and XSI, import an existing shield mesh to a new scene. Import your ship model to the new scene. Resize the shield for your ship. Delete the ship from the scene and export. Give me a bit and I will upload a XSI scene with a shield in it.
