mesh to xsi or obj

i was wonering if anybody could make mesh files into xsi files or odk files i want to edit the pirate ships for the tri pirate mod to add to the pirates

Good luck with the pirate models. They use multiple materials and you need to learn Creating a Second Set of Materials. The textures are all connected in the scene but I did not cluster or UV the other 2 materials.

The obj is basic model. The scene has the 2 UVs and tangents done, need to point the textures to your hard drive location.

i was talking about the ones form the 7ds pirate race sorry i am not goning to edit those there fine i think i already gave th epirates the blue and greeen arcadia but i want to edit the ones from the tri pirate mod to fit my purposes and sense th eguy is no longer working on it i think it is dead

Well, the tri pirate mod was made by Evil Tesla on the Danmangame forum... models are from numerous people, some of them are MIA since a very long time...

As today, Evil Tesla is busy with the development of a space flash game on Danmangame... you can try to contact him there...

I have already promise you my green arcadia in object format ( will come soon,maybe Tuesday... i am waiting a new PSU, my old one have burn after the flood who have hit Belgium around two week ago )...

I have work on the fighter and bomber too... and some other models like the pirate defender ( a mobile armed shipyard ) who was never textured because the mod was ended...

Since, lately, a lot of people seem to request a .mesh to .obj converter, i will maybe some day, when i have time, begin work on a bash script for convert .mesh in txt format to .obj and .mtl...

evil tesl gae me permission this morning also by the way thoumsin i go the file working also i have the defender he sent it me it is very good y fist ill put the meshes for the ships in later today in th ebox

It would be a good idea to put who made which models in your list of credits, and on the texture sheets. The peeps may be MIA, but probably would appreciate the credit given to them if they see their work in your mod.

Is there anyway to sign the mesh too? For example, a null point with the modellers name in it...

I don't think this would cause any issues but haven't intentially tried to put an invalid null point in yet.

Thats a good idea Zombies, I usually name the object in XSI explorer the exact name I want the mesh but can easily add the creators name.

Even the mesh file could have the creators name and you just need to modify the entity to reflect the new mesh name. Not sure how 3DS max works though.

credit for a work is great but it is not needed to be so extreme...

On Danmangame, it is not unusual that a bunch of people work on a model... turret from one guy, hull from a second guy, correction/seg/UV from a third, UV opt from a other guy... basic cl from one guy, AO backed in the cl from a other, etc...

I think that a simple list of credit is enough...

The models in the Evil Tesla pirate mod was from the time of the 7DS forum and in the TOS you was able to read :

Goal was mainly to protect mod from guy who go away and later, refuse that the mod continue use their work... for any models who is more that one year old ( the Danmangame forum have not these TOS ), right is owned by the forum owner...

In fact, if your mod have a dev section on Danmangame, you can freely share/use work with other mod there... by the way, why not ask Evil Tesla for continue his work... the mod is now dead, and i think that he will be pleased that someone continue his work... something similar have already happen with the B5 mod...

There is some other little advantage to be on Danmangame too... by example, i have secure the right to use some commercial music for mod hosted on the Danmangame forum... go to http://www.albertalvarez.com/ , click "discografia" ... for now, mod on Danmangame have the right to use the music from 6 of his CD... only request from the guy is to have his name in the credit along a link to his shop page ( http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?vendor=DemianFox )...

The 7DS pirate race are the rogues... who is not the same that the Evil Tesla tri-pirate mod... both are hosted at the same place but they are different mod with different mod leader...

i know sadly hammersun has declared the mod dead so i wonder what that means also i might be reading it wrong but it seem to me that if it is posted on the dmg site then it can be used?

Well, i don't know who is Hammersun... Evil Tesla was the mod leader...

A mod is "dead" when he is discontinued by the mod leader... it don't mean that the "dead" is permanent... some of the mod dev or somebody external can wish to continue the work... after asking it to the original mod leader...

Well, all who is posted on dmg can be used by any mod devs/mod leaders from dmg... not really all since some material have limited "license"... by example, there is a guy who have compose music for the mod 7DS only, planning to sell this music later... in fact, everything related to right is not very clear on dmg... since the host problem last year, the new site have not really a TOS related to it... in so case, dmg mod are like any mod, simply ask to the mod author...

Since Evil Tesla have give you his permission, i don't see any problem... simply merge the tri-pirate credit list to your own list in some credit.txt file... like several other mod give credit to manshooter, balknight, Uzi, TSOP, etc...

hammersun made the rouges i read the 7ds 2.1 readme the textures for the ships dont work either cuz their for sins 1.5. oh well didnt think they looked good in space

If multiple people on a mod team made the mesh just credit the whole team in one fell swoop. For example SoA 2 uses models made by the Trekmods team. No one person made a single mesh. It was all a group effort. So we credit everyone by mentioning the Trekmods name.

You do not have to get all elaborate, or extreme. Just mention the credit where it is due, and you should be ok.

Well, the rogues ( not rouges ) was made by several peoples...

2.1 is more that one year old... maybe you can register on DMG and contact scratch who is the second in command of the 7DS mod and ask him for a access to the alpha 2.5 ...

Have made a few models for the rogues too but i have not idea what was included or not in the actual version... by example, i remember that i have made a starbase for them long time ago...

nah its okay thanks for the info though ill just make my own maybe the death shadow from captain harlock i can twait for 7ds to come out tho

was going to download the light and the seige frigate so i can merge them with a battleship i am making for the pirates so it would look like the pirates just tokk a damaged ship and hooked it up to the ship
