What do you want them to say?
"Well... It's one of few careers where you can get your legs blown of in an IED, but you get to go on holidays to weird and wonderful places, like Afghanistan and the Falklands when that kicks off, where you can be killed properly by conventional warfare. All in all, possibly the job with the worst "fatality rate to pay" ratio, but we know you all want to be soldiers really."
That would go well
LOL
Well, it would be a lot more honest, instead of promoting it like its some kind of new Call Of Duty game, they could mention the pros and cons of joining a specific regiment.
But yeah, thats the army for ya. IMHO, they shouldnt make these promotional videos at all.
To be fair I agree with you that these promotional videos are pretty pointless. After all, most people will already know whether they want to join the army, and what Regiment they want to join.
Yes, that was my point originally. I just thought I'd make fun of it at first
They are pretty pointless indeed. If I wanted to join the army, I'd know all the risks involved, as well as my duties and everything concerning this job, already.
Plus, about which Regiment to join, I'd feel a lot more 'secure' (so to speak), asking a friend, or at least an acquaintance, who serves in that Regiment, and they could fill me in with all the pros and cons of serving in that R.
Promotional videos.....pfft I would only watch them as a formality
"Always up for it" is open for misinterpretation...
Meh.
Because we use the good old regiment system, there's always a rivalry between regiments doing a similar job. Both the Queen's Royal Lancers and the 9th/12th Royal Lancers claim to be the best formation reconnaissance regiment in the Army.
Personally I'd join the 9th/12th Royal Lancers because they're my local armour regiment. My other local regiment is the Royal Anglian Regiment, though by local I mean its catchment area spans most of South-East England.
TBH, trying to get into the Coldstream Guards would be tempting as well, seeing as they are a) a guards regiment, and b ) My CCF is affiliated with them, so they turn up for the AGI each year, and give us loads of kit all year round. It helps that one of the two leaders of the CCF used to be the highest-ranked non-Officer in the Coldstream Guards.
You can watch each Regiment's promotional video, and determine which one the best choice for you
I vote "Black Ops", its pretty fun.
Just kidding....
You know what's worrying for me though? Both the Coldstream Guards and the 9th/12th Royal Lancers have an intake of about 5 officers per year (come to think of it I think the Coldstream Guards take even fewer)... Just going to hope that I'm one of the smartest and best for Officer Selection then.
WOW
Why do they take so few noobs.....I mean, Officers?
How many people form a whole Regiment?
"We were inhuman beings....butchers on a field of corpses....corrupt and depraved....only a sum of viscera, blood, and bone - Creatures without soul."
