Firstly - I've always been a long-winded writer. Sorry about that. But I've taken to bold facing parts of my essays that if you just read those, you can walk away knowing the jist of my posts. That's just a little tip so people don't merely scroll past my 1000 character posts..
I am new to Sins, about a month old. The game is still on shelves at your local Gamestop or Walmart/Target type stores, and new players are coming into the game all the time. For about a week, I played the game, near every day. Then I got entrrenchment, and the game was vastly improved. Love it all the more. 3 weeks later of tirelessly researching for a mod that works with 1.17 /1.03, I've discovered, currently, at best, finding mods while easy to do here, is actually quite difficult when it comes down to immediate application.
I am a fond user of the search tool and the modding forum, but I visit all of them and just read up. It's my style, anything I do, I do big. I've visited such sites as moddb, wincustomize, and modders' specific sites. I am into modding myself, and I enjoy being a valued member of any community. So...hi.
This post is mainly my desire to not step on any toes.
For example, Spartan's excellent indexes into modding, both total conversion and smaller level mods, are fantastic, but from what I can tell, the last one was updated over a year ago. I do not know if he still around, but this is basically my respectfully requesting to re-update all of his hard work.
Another idea is to refresh (or even create non-existing ones) the new players guides just on how to better improve one's self be it single player or multi player. Granted, MP is still all theory to me as I've not participated in it yet (I'm still in-training); to actually attempt to be a new player that is wise to the ins and outs of MP, rather than just another n00b. To this end, I'd ask for assistance from more veteran players to lend their input to new players, for the goal of increasing overall enjoyment of MP. Still, I hope that my unadulteraded views of MP and how to actually improve might be best? This way I don't reveal strategies people would prefer not be readily available. Rather this would be a focus on how not to just be a n00b that causes veterans to have a sudden desire to play outside...
Another simple guide is merely definitions of acronyms used by the player base. There have been terms used by everyone, that I've had to go through dozens of pages to find out what they mean, until some poor new sins fan eventually asks bravely, "Um...what is MSE"? (Mad Scientist Entrenchment Mod...)
To be clear, this post is about wanting to do something about older or out-of-date guides and indexes found on these forums. I am not simply whining that nothing is relevant on this forum, but that I would like permission to do something about it.
