The first time I played paintball, the game started and I ducked behind a small piece of plywood. I popped my head over and saw a guy. I shot blindly and he also shot--hitting my gun-strap in the progress (a kill in paintball). I remember the guy well--he was wearing blue jeans and had a receeding hairline. I said to myself, "Ug--this game sucks."
I put my barrel-plug into the gun and walked off the game. I noticed that the blue-jean guy was also walking out. "Did I get you?" I asked. He turned to face me and I saw that I shot him right on his forehead--deep into his receeding hairline. The game no longer sucked!
Demigod reminds me of that experience. In my first game, I was a Rook and stormed right into the battle. I swung at a few little bastards and immediately got killed. I said to myself, "Ug--this game sucks." Then I tried again and discovered levelling-up, the item store, the fact that I could use strategy and I discovered that Demigod, like paintball, is a pretty intense and fun experience.
