I have heard that 3DS max can convert mesh files into other formats. And every once and awile I hear about some model being modified and placed into a mod. (Danman's Beta KOL Titan for example)
However, I also understand that it is a difficult prosces, and few people have 3DS max.
So!
I have figured out how to easily, and using free tools, convert sins' mesh format into something more usable, such as obj, xsi, or 3ds.
First though, I must give credit to JustenJF who figured out that 3D object converter can import mesh files.
Also, Their is probably more than one way to do what I am about to explain, so don't take my word as law.
Lastly, this proses erases all hardpoints, uv maps, textures, ect..
It will yeild ONLY the model itself. So it is not for frivolus purposes. It may be easy to do, but the final format will not be sins compatible without some work. (adding hardpoints, UV map, and texturing for starters)
SO! without any further ado, let me start.
First, you will need two tools
3D object Converter Version 4.4

And Quick 3D geomitry
http://www.download3000.com/download-quick3d-geometry-count-reg-26843.html
3D object Converter is a demo that can open and save in 500+ formats. The Demo itself will open ANY format, but will only save in a couple obscure formats. The trick was to figure out a format that works in Quick 3D geomitry, which can THEN save in whatever format you want.
So, to do this:
use 3D object Converter to open up whatever Mesh file you are trying to convert. This works for both text and binary files.
Save in .byu format. this is the only format I have found to be succsesfull, though thier may be more.
Use Quick 3D geomitry to open the new file in .byu format, and then save it whatever format you want.
Good luck
