Huhu,
just wanted to drop a message here. I played the trial version of the game, and got that much impressed so some weeks later I found it for only 25€ at my local second hand shop. Luckily, the serial still works ^^
(And I have also got the manual, big box, and the paper extras, just the music CD is missing
)
It is a quite amazing game...I don't play that much RTS games, and the only one I do regulary (besides SINS, I didn't play it that long that I would consider it as a "regular game" of me) is Warcraft III TFT. It seems that SINS caught up the hero idea from there (->cap ships), I liked this feature/gameplay in WC III so this is just a bonus for me *hehe*
The game even run quite smoothly with my 1 GB RAM & ATI Radeon 9550 (
^^) and even with quite much details enabled (I only get a framelag when I starting the game/match).
But it is not only the game itself which impressed me...it is the got damn publisher and developers. Not only the low price for SINS (35$ iirc) and the expansion (9.95$) but also the big encouragement with the community. For how many games patches get even released after one year after release? Not that much afaik. (Also for quite nice performance boosts). I also saw pinned threads like TS servers or about the existing clans in the game (aren't that much strange fully, just guess not every clan "signed up" here). The service that you can download the full game again if you have lost your DVD, DRM-free software, nice modding compatibility...*a big hands-up !!*, great job !!!1
Just a few hours ago I beat a computer normal/defensive mode after I knocked down together with him a computer easy/aggressive. Well, it took me some hours to get him down
, but it seemed that he was getting more and more weak the longer the game went. I kept down at 9% supply, defended with tactical structures and striked when he was at another locations, by this way I was able to get a large economical advantage about him, I conquered some planets back and lost some of them again, avoided every contact with his fleet if the encounter wasn't in my territory and killed some solo ships and some building from him then and then to get some exp for my caps. Strange fully, I first thought that he would outnumber me since he had a ~30-40 ship fleet and I only a 10-20, but it worked with the correct tactic.
But as usual, computers are nothing compared to true humans since they normally aren't able to spin out great master plans in their mind ^^ And dunno, may be it is even like Warcraft III and the KI is cheating >.< I hate that ^^
And of course things like focussed fire, I figured out it isn't the best to auto all abilities since then you don't have the correct targets, cooldown time and antimatter, so better use most of the cap abilities by yourself. I also figured out that the anti-phase jump tactical building is quite use full because then you are able to knock off some fleeing ships, gives you an economical advantage and of course also some exp, and may be you are even able to hunt down a big capital of your enemy.
I figured out that every unit in this game has it very own, special and important purpose.
Are there any tricks, hints and tipps for online gaming which you can give to me?
How ever, I also want to give out some very small bad critism:
Patch/updating: After I clicked download it installed it automatically, and unfortunally blowed up my saved games, I guessed that it would ONLY download the files, but won't install them by itself. I would like to give up the suggestion to add some buttons to impulse (afaik it is a Stardock project); "Download & Install", "Download" (which converts into "Re-download" after it is finished for bad files) and "Install" (which is grey till the download is complete)
Shop: You might want to publish your sales also for €uro's, not sure about if I would have to pay a quite high transfer fee for U$D's. PLUS I think it will afraid some people from the purchase (for instance, people who don't know any thing about transferring the currency) so it would be also in your interest (-> more sales)
€: It seems that I can't change my time zone in the forums options? Btw is the account I created for impulsealso the account with which I can connect to internet games? I tried to register, but some how I wasn't able to enter the @-letter, not with alt gr + q nor strg + alt + q, but it might be also a conflict with the hotkeys I changed? (Which would be even then quite strange because they should work in matches but not in the menu
/info) I can't enter ICQ numbers or add a signature to those forum profile?
PS: Is there an option/button to display the health of every thing permanantly?
PPS: Oops...long post >.<
PPPS: Oh, I forgot: Of course a warm "hello" to every one out here !!
