Terraforming?

Is it possible?

I am in the process of laying out a custom race, and one of thier major balencing points is the fact that they have to spend large amounts of money to terraform planets before colonising them (In exchange for powerful weapons and ships of coarse). i'm wondering if it is Possible to swap planet stats (and hopefully textures) on the fly.

Not as far as i know.

The textures are attached to the meshes and you can only randomly assign 5 different mesh setups to a planet entity.

The stats can only altered via planet bonuses or abilities. 

 

Maybe we get Terraforming with one of the next expansions?!

I am almost positive you can make structures that give planets bonuses. So the best you could do is make a planetary terraforming structure that would buff a planet to make it on par with a terran world or better. I dont think you can change a planet mesh. Though in entrenchment they add the ability for research to change ship and structure meshes so maybe its possible or very close to possible.
