Ive been trying to make some modifications to the game and have been running into some difficulty. Reverse engineering is only getting me so far and I have been unable to find central source of information (and the search on the forums doesnt seem to work). Any help in this area would be appriciated.
Currently using files provided in Forge Tools 1.1
1. How to edit the number of squadrons a craft can carry. I cant seem to find the line in the capship or carrier files. Checked squad, game, and fighter files as well but havent found it, and I dont know where else to look.
EDIT: I found this. It is "CommandPoints". I was looking for squadrons, or squads or something of that nature.
2. What are the effects of armor, the number not the classification. Ive tried testing, but results have been inconclusive. Knowing what the armor level does would be useful in balancing weapon and armor levels. A way to modify its effects would be useful too.
3. Shield mitigation seems to have a minimum of 15%. Even when placed at a maximum of 0%, 0 armor, and no shields, a 15% damage reduction is present. Is there a way to eliminate it entirely. Ive also run across a post where someone claims to have changed the gain and decay rates, if anyone knows how to do this it would be useful.
EDIT: Found this one as well. Its located in the Player<race> file.
4. Any way to change AI (I think Ive read of some people changing it in their mods, but maybe that was just building/research AI), particularly target selection for weapons. I dont like my Antiverylight autocannons targeting the nearby capitalship instead of the swarms of strike craft buzzing around.
5. Anyway to change formations and flight behavior. Aggressive/Defensive formations in which ship placement differs would be a welcome change from just spacing. I am also tired of my fighter squadrons attacking flak frigates instead of the bombers taking down my capship. In other words distinguish assualt units from defense units.
Im sure there are other things Im forgetting, but these are some of the major issues.
