strike crafts

I've been doing some modding for personal use and have run into a problem with strike crafts. the problem is when i changed the mesh for the strike crafts and then changed it so that the capital ships will build the modified stike crafts they build but they build out in the far reaches of space. if someone could help me fix this problem i'd appreciate it.

the mesh that you are trying to add the Strike craft to must have the Hangar hardpoints.  If they dont, then the fighters will be built out there at the edge of the screen.

how would i go about adding the hard points

you would need to add the hardpoints in either XSI or Max, reapply the textures and Export.
