Sins of a Solar Empire v1.12 Change Log

Fixing the things that made it past the net...

Ironclad and Stardock will soon be releasing v1.12 of Sins of a Solar Empire via Impulse (http://www.impulsedriven.com). This updated version resolves some bugs that made it past prior testing and also prepares the game for the upcoming Entrenchment micro-expansion.

Sins of a Solar Empire v1.12 Changes:

  • Gameplay / Balance -
    • Fixed bad toggle ability behavior exemplified by the Vasari Assailant.
    • Fixed ability created squads and fighters from being included in the stats system (thus potentially showing negative values).
    • Fixed tutorial bug where tutorial failed to advance when building a gauss cannon.
    • Fixed exploit where players could view the bounty on a planet infocard to determine the owner.
  • Networking / Multiplayer -
    • Fixed sync bug caused by bad market system variable initialization.
    • Fixed bug that made clients show that they had joined a game lobby they had been rejected from.
    • Fixed being able to add multiple copies of the same friend to your friend's list.
    • Changed a few confusing network related strings.
  • Misc. -
    • Converted some old meshes to binary.

Oh, and this just occored to me (while I was reading the list) Since the change logs get Shorter and shorter and shorter, one day all you dudes and chicks over there at Stardock and Ironclad will be sitting around, the perfect Sins change finnaly released and your manager will come in and say,"Alright, great job Team!  But, I'm sorry to say that...

you're FIRED( )!!  Yup, that's right, since Sins is finnaly devoid of all those little niches we don't need you anymore, but thanks for putting the billion bucks in our pocket( ), see ya!"

Yeah, so keep up the good work, and stuff...

Yes! I hope that means that the attention can now be fully shifted to other matters.

thanks a lot for your efforts, this must have been a terribly annoying error hunt and those types of things where you work and work and have no results to show for it, because you can't find the source of the problem is so frustrating.

uh go to impulse and any ways  ironclad online is down i think and the patch is eipic fail

The stacking bug was fixed too, right?!!  I recall the beta version I tested I was checking and didn't find the stacking bug.

Yes, this is great. Perhaps they got that sink bug squished

On the other side of the coin, take a company/game like Civ 4 Colonization and Firaxis.  We've had this game 3+ months, it was released with game breaking bugs, HUGE game imbalences (we are talking like blatent obvious blunders), and all this time not ONE message from the Devs/company, and not even a quick fix patch, let alone a "normal" patch.  Modders have been working like crazy, and the MODDERS have had to fix the game (what little they can); still not a peep from the company.

Too bad the Gamers Bill of Rights does not have any teeth to it, companies like Firaxis need a swift legal kick in the rump.

I wish other companies were even 1/10 as efficient as you guys.  Major bug -> fixed in under a week.  Other companies, you're sometimes lucky to see a patch to fix crippling issues once every 6 months.

 

PurplePaladin, sorry to hear Firaxis has gone done the toliet.  I recall they were at least decent with patching Civ 4 when it came out.  I guess they'd rather just shovel out new products now.
