"Alright, boys, we're gonna run this till we get it right," said Blue Leader to his two wing mates. "I'm deploying drones. They've been programmed to simulate our latest recordings of Yor training maneuvers. Stay with me no matter what happens and keep your speed low once we get in close."
Blue leader's computer chirped to signal an incoming message. When the colonel's face appeared, it was grim. "Captain, the Yor have declared war on us minutes ago. You and 2 other flights are all we have near homeworld right now. Your orders are to intercept any Yor ships that enter your sector. Link up to the scanners on Scottlingas V, they'll give you info on what's coming your way before it gets close. Good luck."
Blue leader had opened the channel to his wing mates when he saw who calling. The Blue flight radios were silent as they patched into the early warning scanners on Scottlingas V. Three purple blips appeared on the scanners, already entering the Scottlingas system along the stellar streams. Well, at least it'll be a fair fight, thought Blue Leader as he activated the homing computers on his Stingers.
"Same as the drills, boys. Stay tight, look sharp." The HUD in the Scottlingas fighter highlighted the Yor ships with a purple glow so that the pilot wouldn't lose sight of them as they emerged from hyperspace. "Fire at will, Blue flight. We'll try to thin them out before they get close."
Three Stingers leapt from the fighter wing. The Spark class Yor fighters peeled off in maneuvers erratic enough to kill most biological life forms. Two Stingers followed a single Spark fighter, while the third flew straight into the night, its homing system jumped into uselessness. The Yor, who had dispersed and now converged, forming a triangle around the Scottlingas fighters. No matter who they faced, they'd be exposed to the other two.The Stingers, silent in space, were twisting towards one of the Yor. "Almost there, hang on," thought Blue Leader. His vision went red just before he could have seen the Stingers explode short of their target.
Intercollective Communications Priority Report (Fleet 1 Command):
60% of Scottlingas navy destroyed within 10 minutes of war declaration, fought in 3 engagements involving 9 Spark-class heavy fighters. Unit S17790 was destroyed but successfully reloaded onto new hardware. Serial number remains the same.

An enormous Yor ship slid out of hyperspace, with three rails running from the forward bridge, through a massive ovoid hanger, to the cylindrical rear section which housed its only defense, two impulse engines. 500 million Yor began downloading their suite of combat programs, and the hanger doors spread open.
