So far I think this beta is going very well. At points, it is so convincing that I will sometimes try to use Homeworld commands.
Besides what I said before, I have a rather long list of things I think need to be fixed.
Personally, I believe that if a mod is too be done, it is too be done right, or not at all. (And I have made a semi-large mod before, so I know how hard it can get)
As of yet, I have only played Kushan, so everything here is for the Kushan unless stated otherwise.
I like the Mothership, but it has some problems.
First, the String seems to be missing.
The Jump Charge up realy does not fit the Mothership.
Because the Mothership can build Eight fighters, I think the build speed needs to be increased.
The mothership needs to Level up so it can stay on Par with the other capitols.
I was thinking that the Mothership needs a colonizing ability, and it seems that all the capitol ships need an ability work-over. (Isn’t it strange that the Missile Destroyer can colonize?)
Other than the mothership:
The colonizing frigate mesh needs to be changed. Research Ships on general do not colonize planets.
In general, the textures still need work.
The Imperator seems to be too weak for a capitol ship. And WHY are their HW2 style guns on it??
I was wondering about the Specters if there is anything deferent about them compared to normal interceptors? Are you going to give them a cloaking ability?
The pictures for the units seem a little messed up.
And the descriptions for the ships should be a little more accurate.
Also, the research names and descriptions should be changed accordingly.
I like the different types of fighters you are trying to bring in. However, I have already spoken of the specter. The other three, Sheild MK 1, Shield MK 2, and the Drones, I have trouble with. Like I said before, I believe in doing it right, or not at all. The Drone Frigate really doesn’t work. Unless you can get the drones to work, I’d scrap the Drone Frigate, and give the Support Frigate the ability to field fighters (yes AND repair!!)
About the Shields. I like that idea, but only if they are DIFFERENT than interceptors. As in the Shield MK 2 is like HW in that it is stronger, but very slow. I don’t understand the purpose for the MK 1. It was scraped in HW for a reason….no reason to build it. The MK 1 should be replaced with a bomber.
I have not played the Taiidan, but I have seen a little of them.
I’m sorry about the Taiidan extractors. Your attempt was valiant, however, I have a SERIES problem with using segments of a Hyperspace inhibitor for a resource collector. However, I admit, that actually looks pretty good. SO maybe if there was a little editing done, make it more collector-ish, then I think I’d be good with it.
I like the autocannons as well, what a good idea!! However, the Kushan never used Auto Cannons. They need to have something different.
Also, I love the Firelance, and the Vengence. Out of your mod, they are now my favorite ships. The effects are AWSOME!!
However, I have two minor problems with the Firelance. First, it should have significantly more firepower than the Vengance. Secondly, it shouldn’t have Embolden, but I can see some reasons for having Embolden. (Personaly, I’d put Embolden on the Trapper)
I was also wondering if the building meshes will be changed, or if you will use sins buildings?
Or will the research be changed to be more Homeworldish?
I understand using shields, but Homeworld doesn’t have shields, are you going to take the shields off?
I was also wondering if you were going to replace jumping effects with Homeworld type Jumping effects?
Besides my hundreds of concerns, this is a good mod so far. I like it; I like what you’re trying to do.
It is so convincing at some points in time that I try using Homeworld short cut keys, and get confused when they don’t work.
I know I kind of sound like a prick with all my nit picking. But I only do that because I am scared, Scared that you will screw up and Marjorly and insult Homeworld.
I have done some Major Modding before, so I know how hard it is. Especially with doing it by yourself, and with my un-reasonable demands of “Do it right, or not at all.”
I would offer my help, but I am still adjusting to college life, and I don’t want to do any modding before 1.1 is out. Once 1.1 is out I am going to improve my Tri-Pirate mod. Then, if you’re still working on this mod, I may offer my help. (If you’re not, I may gather a team your welcome to join, and attempt to turn this mod into something that challenges the Seven Sins Mod)
