Playing Pirates YAARGH

Would turning on the pirates to be playable be a huge modification?  What would it involve?  Or, could their ships be used for another new race?

I saw a line in the player entity about player race I think, but I am unsure how hard this task would be.

Oh, this is one I know!


go to the player files (playerpirate) in gameinfo, and at the top is this line

Isselectable=FALSE

if you make if Isselectable=TRUE, you will find out that you can't build any ships, and you cant do research, as there is no tree, etc...

You could graft on the Tech info for these things to get it working...


Oh, and you get a player logo that is multicolored!!

BEWARE!!!!!

if you modify the pirate stats to make it playable, could you run into the problem of the pirates in the center taking over the galaxy???

Yes, that's right, you don't get to be the pirates in the center, you get a regular homeworld, and just get to wear an eye-patch and a peg-leg

Or you could just wait for 7 DEADLY SINS ver 1.3, (sorry for the self promote)in which the new ROGUE race, which are a copy of the pirates, will be playable. They will start on a regular homeworld like Helioforge said, but you can build pirate ships, and even commendeer other player's ships! It took me about 24 hours to get it all together, and I am still tweaking things. I had merged HammerSun's mod in, which really opened the door for the pirates...arrGGGH!!

The pirates are a very special case and Sins and do not follow any standard game mechanics, so you can't really make the current version of pirates playable. The only thing you can do is what Danman did with creating a new pirate-like race

Technically you can, but it won't make for anything exciting.
