Earth 2223

The world was not a happy place, after nearly a century of peace, all hell broke loose. World Ward IV was not going well, not for the Republic of China, not for the United Nations of Europe, and certainly not for the North American Union (The United States of America was officially nothing but a nuclear wasteland, thanks to WWWIII). Thankfully, after the Nuclear Holocaust that was World War Three, Humanity researched and put into action a series of missile destroying satellites, dubbed the Star Wars Defense System. However, this, of course, does not hinder the Republic of Korea's massive army of sophisticated troops, vehicles, and even high atmosphere aero planes. Not for lack of trying, the Nation of China (now the entire continent that -was- Asia) was swarmed and defeated in the first month of conflict.

Korea had a bit more resistance when her armies met up with the European Alliance's. After nearly three years of fighting, the war seemed to be at a stalemate and things were looking up. But with the advent of improved laser weaponry Korea was fall behind. During all of this, the North American Union was busy researching and developing manned star ships capable of traveling to the stars. Although around 2187 the Hyperdrive was discovered, nothing more than a few unmanned probes were ever sent into deep space. Not for lack of trying, of course, but war was just around the corner and the major funding required was abruptly cut.

Around 2208 (a decade after WWIV even started) the NAU started pouring funding into the Hyperdrive again, it was their impression that this war, or the next war would be the end of humanity, and thus we must colonate far away worlds to preserve our race. How right they were. In 2220 Korea had developed a sub-orbital artillery platform capable of bombarding anywhere at anytime, but the major concern was the fact that they could now shoot down satellites, namely those of the Star Wars Defense Systems. And that, sadly, is what they did.

Meanwhile, the NAU had successfully developed and built the first manned hyperdrive capable ship, the Exploration Class Frigate dubbed the NAUS Essence. Shortly after, the NAU had begun work on building several MUDKIP class colony ships that would be used to settle far away lands...
