Does sound a bit dodgy to be honest I would actually like to know the situations for lans since its been brought up, i.e do I need to buy a 2nd copy to have a lan in my house or is it possible to play a lan with the one copy. Is it legal? Would appreciate if someone could answer each of these questions. Also as far as my situation is concerned I have purchased the game. May purchase a 2nd copy in future but cant afford it at this time. I know some games work on 1 license 1 PC and I know theres alot of legal issues but I must admit I think its a bit ridiculous that myself and 1 family member cant have a 2player lan with some games. Im not going to go on about it though but would be interested out of curiousity what stardocks stance is on this? (If It would get me into trouble playing a lan with 1 family member I wont play a lan and will stick with the one copy, if not I will make a point of buying a 2nd copy in 3 months so that we can both enter IC online[because I am more eager to support a company thats using common sense in conjunction with protecting their investment)

(Dont want to get into it and this is a well used analogy and most likely hated by some but if you rent a movie , knowone ever rents for example 2 or 3 copies of the same film to watch the film with 3 people)

As for the OP hopefully it was lan you were talking about and you have purchased the game , since if your not doing this you are championing the cause for companies to get stricter and stricter with their consumers.

Thanks it does and you know something that kind of sensible way of doing things makes me want to order another copy for IC asap. I wasnt sure about buying the expansion but Im enjoying the first game and although I dont like talking of expansions at lauch of a game well I am going to make a point to buy it.

I also realise IC need to protect their investment but its good to see people who actually buy the product are getting treated correctly.

Honestly, I'd bet that it'll work. However, it does break the EULA. Ironclad and Stardock have been kind and very reasonable with their restrictions, so you should probably be nice to them and buy more copies. Don't be that guy.

That is completely false. You must have a valid serial in order to register on the updates page. It *will* fail if you do not.

Forums/SDC account creation only does not require any serial registration, but the updates page combines the two for simplicity and both login and serial must be unique and valid for it to work there.
