Basically, I can't seem to get my computers to connect to each other on my network. I finally managed to get both computers to be able to create multiplayer games and go to the 'Join Game' screen without making a fuss, but they can't seem to join the same game. I have two computers, one laptop with a dedicated graphics card running Windows XP SP2 connected to a single router by an ethernet port. The other computer is a tablet (it amazes me too that Sins even INSTALLED on such a dinky machine, let alone runs superbly) running Windows Vista (pre SP1) connecting to my private network wirelessly to the previously-mentioned router.
First case: I create a multiplayer game on the XP laptop just fine, and I can find it listed easily enough on the Vista tablet on the 'Join Game' screen. However, when I actually try to join the game with the tablet, I get the "Network Error: Disconnected from Game Server" message every time. I guess I'm running off default address settings from the game (Address: 192.168.50.1, Port: 6112), but I have no idea how to change the settings correctly. I have also tried connecting my tablet directly to the router with an ethernet cord, but with the exact same results (and many wonky internet connection issues as well...the joys of Vista ownership...).
Second case: I create a multiplayer game on the Vista tablet just fine, but I can't find it on the 'Join Game' screen with the XP laptop at all. Can't join a game you can't see. Simple as that.
Either I have to access the specific address and port settings for each computer (which I don't know how to do) and use those settings in Sins Multiplayer, or I have to alter my network/router settings a bunch (and I think I've lost the password with which to do that...more on that later). I'm not sure which course of action is better. Any ideas?
By the way (last point in this super long post), my router is a Netgear 108 MBps wireless router. I'm not even sure if that model facilitates intra-LAN network gaming/sharing, so that might be a factor.
