Harassment

No ignore list?

There is a player named "Minidump" flooding the main lobby and sending whispers to me and other people, yet there is no ignore list? I can't even play a game without the chat text scrolling by. I looked for a way to report him but yeah looks like Ironclad online doesn't really give a shit huh?

Pretty sure you can ignore people. It's either click their name and hit Player Data, or /ignore or /i.

as for minidump, he's just a shitty troll.

That's not even the worst of it. He started impersonating me, and other people told me that he did it to them to. He copied my name almost exactly and started stating that i was a fake and he was the person on the forums and adama_repack was his and it contained a virus. etc. etc. etc.

It's really weird that Ironclad would let someone make so many different names....

Me and the Monk have had the same problems!!! He created the names: the Monk (2 spaces) and Mr. Peebuddy (Extra space) which makes them diffrent names which look almost identical. He then impersonated us and misrepresented us. When logged as the Monk he made many harrassing comments to myself and other players, cussing alot and even being racist.

IRONCLAD/STARDOCK, if you are out there, somewhere, reading this post I sincerely hope you will do something about this!!!

Yay for griefers. Yayyy. Sounds like the main lobby just needs some moderation, a report mechanism and serial bans.

I'd like to make a further request to Ironclad/Stardock. If you manage to get this guy's IP (assuming he isn't using a proxy), could you ask abuse@his.isp to close his account.

They won't pay attention to the average user doing this, but if a well known company threatens to start blocking all IPs from that ISP, then said ISP either behaves and gets their users in line, or they lose customers who want access.

As another victim of minidump I think he's earned this kind of response, and it would show other trolls/griefers that the community won't stand for it.

It rarely does, which is why these aholes get to carry on doing it all over the net.

All it takes is a redirect to a page that says:

We apologise for the inconvenience, but access to this site is denied to all users from your ISP.

We have done this as they refuse to enforce a reasonable standard of behavior from their users, closing the accounts of any abusive users.

Please contact your ISP to inform them of your dissatisfaction at their standards of service.



I could block a whole ISP from accessing my webserver in a matter of minutes like this, and while it doesn't have enough users to get a result, I've seen plenty of accounts of this working for bigger sites.



He's not just impersonating people, he's spreading trojans that will probably be used to collect passwords and commit fraud. That kind of behavior does deserve an ISP account closure, and if websites won't use their influence to encourage foreign ISPs to stop it who will?

unless his isp was something like RedneckBoondocksISPInternetOnline, doing so would trigger a massive flood of complaints to stardock, would deny technical help and possibly patches to those users..it'd be more trouble than simply banning any IPs idiots use.

I saw this guy hosting a FFA game once. He claimed that he was working for Stardock and was testing the game for minidump’s. Then a little later he said "Fuck Stardock and this game" and quitted.

You make it sound like a joke. Impersonating someone like TheMonk is a body blow to this community. Even you must recognize that when "TheMonk" is sending out trojans and spamming filth, his credibility becomes damaged. Given that he is, in many ways, the "premier" member of our community here, thats unacceptable.

Even ignoring that, this individuals behavior is beyond the pail, and utterly unacceptable.

An ignore command would be good. Also, I have had problems with people who jump into the game channel while trying to set up a game and harass / spam the people waiting for the game to launch. The ability to kick people from the channel you created would be nice too -- but this is more complicated, so a simple ignore feature would probably suffice.

While you are quite correct Multi, I imagine many of us get a warm feeling in our hearts thinking about the mayhem and malice we could practice with that info.
