If you are both plugged into the SAME router then you won't have to do anything with the router, just configure your PC's properly.
If you're NOT on the same router, then yes you will need to follow the steps in my guide (not just attempt them as a "last resort"

) to get things working. If you didn't change the password on your router from the factory default, google your rotuer make/model default login and you should be good to go. (btw. depending what make/model of router you have the WEB-login address will be different which is why my guide has you checking for your "gateway" address.

)
By the way, an MIT degree is certainly not necessary, I think most of us learn to read in grade-school? hehe
Anyway, As my guide states......I have and continue to talk people through the more
convoluted network setups some people insist on creating for themselves via my TS server (*sigh* KISS-principle is so often forgotten

) and I will be available later tonight to do the same for you. Just read the darn thing first or I will be annoyed that I'll be repeating myself.
