Some ideeas fro random teams i been using(this is to avoid stacked teams and people bickering about them):
************random races for random teams********************
players start with random races
races of same kind ally with eachother in game for half the number of players(for equal teams) or less**
example a 4 player game(2v2):
*there's 2 of same kind and two of different kind(races) game is valid, the two of same kind ally and two of different kind also ally for 2v2
*two of same kind and two of another kind, game valid, 2v2, they ally per race
*for a 6 player game it's 3 per race or 3 per race and 2 per race in wich case the lonely guy allies with the 2 per race for a 3v3 vs the 3 per race team
**if for example on a 6 player maps theres 2 of each kind i don't recommend 3 teams, it will end in a 4v2 somehow, or use the multi way game strategy i will explain below(multi way FFA)
*more players per race than half of players => remake
************right hand rule, one star map for random teams*******************************
2 people are chosen at first as team leaders, than they ally with the people to their right;
In case more players per game, the players that received alliance also ally with people on their right except if it's opponent team leader, then, allyign stops until that team is full and remaining players go to the team that stopped.
********************************multi way FFA rule**************************************
This is to avoid gangups on people. People can start by destroying any planet from any of the opponents, but once he destroyed a planet from one opponent he is forbidden to take another from him or attack him inside his colonies until he takes a planet from another opponent opponent, so, the trick is holding on to the planets you took and this way the game doesn't go 2v1 in a 3ppl FFA... works for 2v2v2s and more.
1.Only attack one player at a time defend against how many you want inside your colony wells. Again, uncolonizable wells are FFA. If you destroy a planet and the enemy empire takes that planet back right away you are not allowed to destroy it again or attack that empire inside it's colonies; you must attack another PLAYER empire and destroy their planet before you can attack the first empire again inside their colonies.
2.If your planet gets destroyed by a player and you weren't allowed to kill one of his planets because of rule 1. then rule 1 is off until you destroy one of the attacker's planets.
3.Uncolonizable and neutral wells are FFA though; they dont count towards any rule.
4.AIs are fair game for everyone they don't apply to any of the rules. Killing an AI planet don't count towards allowing you to attacka player empire you just killed a planet from.
5.You can only go as deep as one well inside an enemy empire territory from your planets and/or neutrals. You are not allowed to attack a system that is neighboured by same empire's planets from all sides.
6. When 1v1 remain(no matter how many AIs are left) all rules are off.
7. No vasari in the game! They can stall, boom and ruin the game with their Returning Armada especially with these rules.
