Self Induced Bounties

I was wondering if there was a way to pay into your own bounty. Now, I know what your
thinking: This guy is nuts. But I think it might actually be fun in a multiplayer map or
something if the players have a huge empire and get bored while ingame. Any thoughts?

That could be useful actually, especially if you want to level up a cap ship without going toe to toe with the main enemy, paying for some free pirate action could be benefical.

I go with "this guy is nuts"

for pirate action just hit their base and withdraw when needed that will give you the points without costing you $$ or damage to your planets.

What might be nice is an auto bounty where you aotomaticly post bounty on someone.. say if your bounty becomes the largest you autopost XX$ on so and so's head... that way you can avoid the need to stop in the middle of a fearce battle and go post $$ to keep them at bay...

I've wanted this several times, though, if you want the pirates to attack you, the computer tends to bid you up so you'll be their target anyway. Maybe there should be a way to just taunt the pirates which causes them to launch an attack wave at you independant of bounty.

I think the taunting is basically taking a fleet to their base.

"OH BOYS! Over HERE!"


I don't know about a random attack fleet though. Can't really order up "One Pirate Fleet" to go, I guess. Unless you try to intercept the one that is sent to attack the enemy. That would be the only thing I can think of.

Of course if everyone had this autopost you speak of - it would just drain everyone's credits into the bounty!

yes, the risk involved in doing soo...

acually you have a good point.. it would need to have some kind of limit placed on it so that you don't have a sudden massive drain on the empires funds. say a upto ammont.. think ebay auto bidding

Hey, the beautiful thing about this approach is that, when you're done, your enemy will still most likely have the highest bounty on his head, because the pirates wound up attacking your ships instead.

I really like that idea, babysitting during the "pirate raid is imminent" warning is a real painin the butt, especially when the AI will snipe bounties at the last second, and can add them in any incremant it wants, not just the 250 a click. (seeing them jump your bounty up 8K in 2 seconds to match theirs is hardly fair.)

That order up a fleet to go might not be a bad idea, you can buy X ships to attack y planet or fleet for z amount of time for set $$

They won't fight you unless they've gotten to where they're going (i.e. one of his planets)

I've found that you just bid once, at the beginning of the alert, and they'll bid one step above that, and then you bid one step above that, and, after that, they don't ever bid again for that cycle. So you can force it to always be them for only 500 credits (assuming everybody's bid is even to begin with) I don't know if this is completely true, but it's been my experience so far.

How about a way to pay into the bounty thats for yourself? There's
already a way you can pay for your opponents bounty, so why not into
your own bounty? I think I might try to mod this. Hey, some people
like the challenge.

I too find the warnings annoying, but its actually kinda funny if your
on the other side of a wormhole lol. "pirate raid is imminent... but
not really since were not scripted to go through the wormhole, but its
imminent anyways cause were coming!"

You mean I can harvest the fleets for XP and not have to worry about getting killed?

Hmmmm not a bad idea...just put fleets in all the systems adjacent to the pirate base. Move in reinforcements if necessary.

'Course that's an expensive way to get fleet experience in terms of management and total fleet supply. Seems to me the far more effective method (in terms of the game as a whole) would be to just go after your opponent.

However, conceptually "farming" the pirates seems sound.
