Sins string editor download

I made a simple xls file (need to enable macros) that allows you to import and export string files because almost of all the minidumps I've had are from malformed string files.

I'm certain this will break on multilingual versions (only tested with english)

change your input/output paths to your sins/string folders

http://warlords.swrebellion.com/files/sins_strings_editor.xls

just add in your string lines by inserting a new line (you can use the filters to find existing strings)

It is best to do everything on this sheet because manual editing may cause problems

So how would you save it as a text file???

*not super good at exel*

hit the READ button to grab the existing file (it is default with the file) insert your new rows or make changes and then hit the WRITE button to write it out to the correct path, the intent is to never directly edit the strings file, because that can cause all sorts of issues with crashing.

Big thank you evilejedi. I try to create a mod that translate Sins in French, I had few bugs working with Scite. Now, No problems, it worked pretty well. What's a pleasure not to have dump error anymore.

GRAA!!

kk,I do press write, can get this error

Run-Time error 75

path/file access error



GRRAAA!!!

Edit: fixed it, for somereason it can only REPLACE string files, it can't make onces.

Edit number two: added an entry, and it didn't work, in the game it just said "String not found" how do I make it "find" the string??????

hmm are you on vista or office 2007? on 2003 and XP I can create .str files

make sure the ID is EXACTLY what you put in the .entity files, capitalization may matter.

got the program to work just fine.
prob is when I create anouther entry to the string file, (I dbl checked, spelling is correct) it still says "String not found" in game


does the entry have to be anyware specific??

Cous' I just put it at the end of the list.

Have you been able to add entries to this?

just discovered the problem!!!

I discover a count at the top of the string page that this editor doesn't update!!!

so the conter needs to be updated manually.


Sugestion: make an updated version that will update the string count

do you have auto calculation off in excel ? it's just a subtotal in the cell so it should have no problem updating (I've added a bunch of strings and it updates the count fine)
