Some questions! Yes, I know SSE was designed to work in a 2d plane ... but damn if that doesn't cause some weird stuff to happen.
1) is it possible to mod the game so that orbital structures are built higher or lower rather than directly across the equator of planets? Something like the variance we see from asteroids, etc?
2) Is it possible to tweak the fleet form-up so that capital ships form with greater vertical, and especially horizontal separation? Even with 'loose' formation, I quite frequently watch ships turn to engage a target from a standing position and shoot through/bump up against/clip through something else. I would love it if I could set the default formup to make them form in a vertical line, THEN go horizontal, rather than a horizontal phalanx and then going vertical after reaching a certain size. But definitely, a wider formation that would allow each ship to rotate 360 degrees in place without hitting anything else would be REALLY good.
3) related to the above, is it possible to add a reverse gear to ships rather than the current 'do a 180, barge everything out of the way and maybe also get stuck on an orbital structure for added annoyance'?
4) is it possible to make ships go over the top or bottom of a planet and take the shortest intercept course, rather than around to a side? When a ship chases something around and around and around, I feel like the music should switch to yakety sax.
