Connect to ICO (Ironclad Online) and there are like 200 people who wants to play

Well, I went to ICO yesterday, for the very first time. There were then over 300 people in the main lobby, but very few games to join (and most were password protected). I wonder what those 309 individuals were doing in the lobby : the chat was very minimal. Don't they go there to create and join games ?!

I could have created a game, but I did not have the time. I just went there for the first time to see what the situation was : hundreds of people in the lobby, only 2 or 3 non-password protected games !?

They were most likely already in games. The join list only shows games that have not yet started, but people in games still appear in the lobby list.

Hi 400 this evening. People generally get into games very quickly, so the list doesn't stay lengthy for very long. The vast majority of games are active, but they are no listed (recent patch). I regularily visit ICO, all hours of the day and night and there was never a problem joining a game in less than 5 minutes. Within literally seconds I filled a 10 player game-and i was just testing for one person! All you have to do is speak up or volunteer to host and I'm positive you will get a game within minutes!

I now understand where those hundreds of people were located : shame on me for not using my Canadian PhD brain to figure that one out ! (I do not have a lot of online MP experience, obviously).

My main problem, then, is this :

Suppose I do not want to host a game, but only join a game suitable for MP « n00bs » such as I. How do I proceed to find a game where I won't get matched-up with MP vets ?

Yesterday, the few available games to join did not seem to give out any sort of info on the skill-level of the host's ideal target-audience. Of course, I could have asked the host in his game-setup area, but it would be less bothersome if some game-ID option could explicitly advertise the required skill-level for an offered game : less loss of time and less chances of unfair match-ups.

At the moment, I'm a 57-year old MP-n00b who does not want to be bullied by 12-year old MP-Veterans.

At the momment, the best thing to do is enter the lobby or a new channel and just ask if someone would like to host a n00b game. I can gaurantee there are more of them in the chat than anyone else

If you want further control ask them to password protect it. Another good way (in the future) will be to look at their stats. We may have more features in the future that will make this even easier!

Best way to make sure your not playing against vets are to host/join a game with the title something like "noobs only please". Its no guaranty that there wont be vets, but that gives you atleast a chance to a fair game

I have been lurking in the Beta since June, Multianna : I am aware of your skill level. I would not want to be bullied by you.

I agree with Craig Fraser : the ICO lobby must be full of shy MP-n00bs such as I -- even though I doubt there are a lot of 57-year old PhDs in there.

I haven't even managed to get far enough in one of these multiplayer games to even see my enemy's ships, let alone attack them. So I have absolutely no idea how bad I am
