Whoa, I just ordered mine online night before last and figured I'd pop by the forum to see how long I can expect to wait. Guess I should just go ahead and print out the pdf manual (I'm one of those gamers who insists on a generous helping of printed manual with my strategy).
Guys, remember that Stardock is still a relatively small publisher, so the logistics in coping with a huge amount of orders is probably a bit of a nightmare. I don't know if any of you are familiar with Shrapnel Games or Dominions 3, but the company I work for did all the manuals for them. Shrapnel is also an indie publisher, and I remember how badly they underestimated the amount of orders they'd get for Dom3. Even more clear is the memory of just about everyone at my company running around helter-skelter trying to get more manuals made for them so they could ship more orders out so everyone on the forums would stop complaining. Hehe.
Whatever the cause of the shipping delays, chalk it up to Stardock being a small company and not as prepared to deal with stuff like this as an Atari or an Ubisoft. They more than make up for it with the digital download, so take advantage of that and be patient! Believe me, I want my printed goodies just as much as the next guy, but as someone who's caught a glimpse of the inner workings of the indie PC game publishing world, I can understand the potential difficulties in coping with a large number of online orders.
I'm guessing that, as was the case with Dominions 3, the root cause of some people not receiving their orders yet is that the game is exceeding initial sales projections. And, if you like this game, the fact that you haven't received your box yet is actually cause for celebration! Silver lining people, silver lining!
Um, yeah. So when is my order going to ship?
