From what i've noticed the Sins AI.. is lacking somewhat. there is no REAL battles.. everytime i head out to one of their planets.. if i've got a decent sized armada the enemy just runs even when its their home planet..
The AI is conservative with their ships, yes. Basically there's a behind the scenes algorythm that compares their fleet strength to yours, and once the gap gets too large they try to run. It's "smart" in the sense that that's what you'd do instead of fighting an impossible battle, but it does decrease the number of cool fights. Ironclad will be continually tweaking the AI, and I know their retreat logic has taken a pounding, so I expect this will keep getting tweaked.
1 Real thing i wish sins had.. in diplomacy and teching.. different techs that race's cant have and could easily trade. like Ship designs and so forth. and we need more diplomatic options.. the AI can ask us for stuff all the time i dont see a button where i can ask the AI to give me stuff like.. there needs to be give me ur planet or i'll F u up type thing lol
There's plenty of teching, and most techs are unique to each race - which then also doesn't make sense to allow tech trading, since only the basics are shared somewhat. And while you can't ask AIs for resources, once you get cozy with them you can ask them to send their ships to attack/defend targets of your choosing - sometimes they'll listed, other times they might not (like if you ask them to attack their ally
