Research Priority

This should be in the strat section, but until people see there is one I'm putting stuff in here. Mods feel free to move it.

What are your early research priorities besides the obvious Volcanic/Ice Planet Civ techs.

Starting research is always cost vs gain and normally also dictates your strats. I have no idea what all but the most obvious techs really do.

Hopefully some BT's with multiple games can chime in.

There has to be some techs that give you more bang for your buck, and can help jump start the game or give an edge in combat.

Trade stations are good (usually) to get going fairly early - it sucks for the Vasari because they're a bit later in the tech tree

i focus on economy, then some weaps, then culture, and then whatever i feel fits best.
