Sad, I just finished researching Massive Ships and half of my huge designs are jacked up. Sigh. At least I was able to share them here as a sort of record of there existence. I was about a week away from uploading them to the library. At least this happened now and not after people downloaded them. I'll try to salvage the less mangled ones if people would like me to upload them. Anyone interested?

Am I the only one shocked by all of this? Has anyone heard if the next patch will fix this? I know its not the end of the galaxy and I will continue to design ships of course but was there any warning that I missed?

Am I the only one shocked by all of this? Has anyone heard if the next patch will fix this?


i don't know about shocked, but i'm pretty disappointed. even thinking about downgrading back to 1.5. i remember seeing a bug report when 1.6 was first released. it seemed like they were trying to troubleshoot the problem as if it were mostly isolated, but that's how tech support proceeds.

i know i've discussed the issue is the 1.6a forum, but it didn't go very far. perhaps it's time to set up a new forum dedicated to this; if i'm not busy tonight, i'll try to assemble the needed materials to more thoroughly document the issue, submit it as a bug report by email, etc. if anyone else would like to do it sooner, please feel free.

edit: also, great ships as always kenwebb

New to the community. Great looking ships on this thread -- really amazing. I'd say the programmers did a good job developing a program where people can really express themselves artistically--and make some bada$$ looking ships.

I wanted something that was more of an organic/technological hybrid. I went for something with an insectiod, alien, semi-disturbing feel to it. Hopefully I got there. Thanks, I appreciate the effort of you looking even though I completely failed at linking those the right way. Going to edit my last post as soon as I figure out how to fix it.

All those parts are stock, just some carefull placement of parts within parts to get the organic smooth curves, and some of them are just plain upside down.   

I would love to see a mod with more smooth, curving parts or more organic looking components though. Would make ship creation a bit easier.

Hey guys I must say I am very impressed with the creativity I've seen in this thread.
However, I've got myself a slight problem, I have been trying to design a ship that uses relatively flat surfaces, much like a modern aircraft carrier. Specifically Ive been trying to create a ship similar to the Hiigaran Carrier from Homeworld 2.

Anyways, I would like to know what hull jewels to use to create those relativly flat surfaces. Lol id experiment myself but so far I haven't been able to find the right jewel or set of jewels for the job. Any help would be appreciated.

Next weekend I plan to upload some more ships to the Library. I plan to just upload Templates with notes in the description as to whether or not they are metaverse compliant. Any other suggestions on how to do it? Since the last patch I have noticed that the metaverse and regular game seem to link to each other. So I shouldn't have to create two folders now. Or am I wrong? Comments as always are welcomed.

hmm well flat retangular surfaces are the problem, really. there's a great tesellating hexagon in the drengin pieces... i think it's perfectly flat.

most of the flat pieces i can think of have lights on them unfortunately. perhaps the long plank shape in the yor collection - it's not perfectly flat, but it's close, and it's rectangular.

One of the things that I have wanted to do was battle damage or an asteroid collision. What do you guys think? I think that some extras as debris floating around would finish it up nicely.
